Seriously. If Clinton wouldnt release her taxes, the Trumpsters would be all over it like a lawsuit in Manhattan. And...deservedly so. This being audited bull [BAD WORD REMOVED] is just that, bull [BAD WORD REMOVED]. Dont think Romney was audited? Or any of the rest of all other candidates?

Release them. Show you are what you say you are..rich, philanthropist, etc and maybe get a little respect

Man, Obama got to use "B-b-b-Bush!" forever, we don't even get to see a "B-b-b-ut Obama!" while he's still in office!
His tax returns will show he his not worth nearly what he claims and will likely show he has paid little to no taxes for some time. Hoping that audit is completed and made public before election day so this business acumen supporters think he is going to bring will be exposed. If people cannot see this guy is a complete fraud, they are fools.

And this is bad because the public believes the richest candidate should win? Or because he (or the person he hired to do his taxes) knows the way around the failures of government?

Lester Weingarten, New York City based accountant:

“If his return is under audit, I would advise not to release it to the public as there could be an embarrassing upward adjustment or they could “bless” the return by not making any changes which would be an affirmation of the accuracy of the return (or they could make a highly unlikely downward adjustment).  Either way, it would not be beneficial to release the return until all was settled.    If the return was not under audit, then it is up to him what he wanted to do, but given it is under examination, it would be prudent to wait until the examination has been concluded.

As far as releasing prior years taxes, each year stands on its own.  However there could be carry forwards of certain items to the most recent year filed (i.e. 2014).  Generally these items would include but are not limited to capital loss carry forwards; net operating loss carry forwards; Investment interest expense carry forwards, passive loss carry forwards, foreign tax credit carry forwards.  Given Mr. Trump’s wealth, the most likely carry forwards would be passive loss carry forwards on partnership investments that throw off losses that cannot be used currently as they are deemed passive activities.  However we are getting too technical.

As Mr. Trump stated, he has been audited year after year, presumably the audits on prior years have been concluded, therefore those returns, if he so chose, could be released and as stated above, if there was an upward adjustment, an embarrassment, if there was a “no change”, an affirmation.  He might have a few years where the audit has not been concluded, so as above, I would recommend they not be released. ”

Aside from the obvious above...

I'd wager there are a lot of charity donations that would make leftists' explode in confusion.  Donations to D politicians, and charities that D's claim as "their own" (when in truth conservatives have been proven to be more generous with their wealth.)

Yet so much more genuine than Hillary, and it's not close.

That's the sad part of it all.

It shows he is full of [BLEEP] and has always been full of [BLEEP]. About what he claims to be his biggest strength.

If you ever had a job where you had to pay taxes, you'd know that a person's total wealth is not an item on the tax returns. They would show nothing as to how rich he actually is.

They both suck. But I can actually make myself pretend Hillary cares about anyone but herself. I cannot make that claim about Donald at all. I have to at least have an illusion created. He can't even swing that.

I know if I claim to be worth $5B and my taxes show I'm worth barely half that, I am full of [BLEEP]. This clown considers his name to be a brand and values that higher than anyone else on the planet. The guy is a total fraud. Or do you need to see him do to America what he did to Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Atlantic City, Trump University, the USFL, etc. before you'll believe it?

Taxes don't show your net worth to my knowledge.

Don't your income tax forms just show the income you made in that particular year, not your complete net worth?

If you owned (say) $10B in stock last year and didn't sell it, it wouldn't show up on your tax return. So whether or not you believe he has less than what he claims, releasing his tax returns won't prove you right or wrong.

Nor were they necessary to know about the other things you mentioned, so that's off-topic (and Hillary has her own off-topic gotcha list which is much worse).
Quick show of hands.. How many people are willing to put their name on it that they don't believe there's anything shady going on with his taxes? Because it's an absolute given that there is. How deep and dark is the only unknown.

The man has been audited by the worthless IRS 12 years in a row. If fraud is there they will find it. They have not in the past 11 years.

I'd guess that there are "mistakes" on 90% of the tax returns. Even the IRS can't figure out exactly what the law says, and after they threw the 2012 election to Obama I'd argue that tax returns should never again be released. Complaining about Trump's tax returns is like complaining that he's driving 75 in a 70 zone.

How's that sand taste while you choke on his job creating and charity work...

Compared to Clinton leaving the White House "broke," having to give back all the items she stole from the White House (just a mistake, like the server, amirite?,) and all the millions they've bilked with the "foundation."
Oh, by the way. I HATE this friggin thread. IRS, taxes, AAAHHHHHHH!!! ..I need a drink. I'm going over to the booze thread........................................

The IRS is bonkers.  They finally sent me a written explanation about the refund check I got last month:

"If you were in a disaster area, you may have been granted additional time to file returns and pay taxes."

Except Jacksonville is not in a disaster area and I filed in April like everyone else.

Where's the proof that it's an "absolute given"?
