Quote:"McBOGGERSON"?!

McBoogerson...sorry. Sad
Quote:Except he didn't mention veiled profanity. He said making a pun out of his name. One that others (including a current mod) posted without incident. So, he didn't mention a reminder about veiled profanity as you incorrectly suggest. I would venture to say that most took it as a joke, especially given the FBT reference.

Which still doesn't change anything. Ficken is hardly veiled profanity. It can just as easily mean freaking, which would have the exact same meaning as posted, and is not profanity. (Unless you suddenly decide that freaking is now added to the list of veiled profanity, which wouldn't surprise me in the least.)

But hey, if it makes you all feel better, I won't whine about it. I haven't to this point either. I have merely pointed out a multitude of reasons it was mishandled. At least when I was a Mod, I had the guts to stand up and admit when I was wrong. I was the only Mod to ask for and receive a warning because I broke the same rule as a poster and didn't think it was fair that the poster be warned and myself not be warned. As I recall, that discussion went on multiple pages before CowboyBarry stood up and did the right thing and issue me the warning. Not a one of the rest of you would do it. So, that said, I will not hold my breath on anyone of you admitting that it could have been handled differently. It wasn't that way then, and I'm sure nothing has changed

So this has become an indictment of unfair mod behavior, not whining over a warning. Sure.

A pun about a person's name is the same as veiled profanity when used with obvious intent in place of a profane word. Freaking? Give me a break. The intent was clear in every post in that thread, just as it was in the Long Ding thread.

Using it as you did with the radio show reference was fine. Despite your claim, that's not what you were warned for, was it?

We knew what you meant. Some people...
Can anybody tell me why is TMD banned?

And the TNT network thinks they know drama.

Oh? How so? Do you know why he was warned, do you think it was for Ficken and Hicken, as he claims?

Do you know if mods get warnings?

Do you think all the puns about Ficken's names were meant to replace freaking?

How many warnings have you had in the past year? Now that wouldn't have anything to do with your attitude, would it? Never mind, I'm sure none were justified.

What about a frequent user, who's not so frequent these days...

Was she/he banned? - you know who I mean..

If you mean Jaguars Woman, or whatever her name is now, she usually takes a break during the dead zone. I think it's when she fleeces her cats for sweater yarn.

Yeah that's who I meant... I thought she'd gone quiet!
LOL, the fact of the matter is that the mods/admins on this board are in a "clique" of their own.  There are a few that seem to be "outside" of "the club" when it comes to enforcing the rules.  The thing to keep in mind though, most of us wouldn't want to hold the job especially during the "dead zone".  While I do have respect for the men and women that run this board, I don't always agree with them or their decisions.  I do think that some of the rules are "out of line" and the enforcement is wrong, but the mods/admins don't make the rules and the enforcement has to be done.

Are the mods/admins correct 100% of the time?  Absolutely not.  I've had my own confrontations with them where I've called out individual mods/admins.

My point is in the end we need to take a step back and appreciate what we have rather than abuse it.  Most of the time when people get a warning (and I've had my share of them) it's warranted based on the rules of the board.  Is the "veiled profanity" rule stupid?  In my opinion yes, but again the mods/admins don't make the rules.  Is there a rule regarding innuendo?  Not really and I've seen mods actually use innuendo in their posts.

Here's a question though that has never really been answered or addressed.  Is the discussion and/or use of illegal substances appropriate for a "family oriented" message board?  After all, there is clear discussion at times of using illegal substances by many including mods/admins.

Very very very good point... Who gives the warnings to the moderator??

Admins and other mods. Several of us have either been warned or called on the carpet by a root admin. One mod in particular was removed from the moderator team.

We mod each other the same as we mod you. If we do something out of line, we get dinged for it just like everyone else.

That's a fair question, and I'm probably the main offender, if it is indeed an offense.  I've rarely been called out for it, but if it bothers folks I'll stop.
Nobody makes me mod my own mod!

But seriously... yep.  Same process, same consequences.  No one is safe.

Lot's of questions, so I'll just answer down the line, one by one..

1) Yup

2) Because I've been dealing with punks my whole life

3) Don't know nor do I care, I know the thread you're referring to, but didn't care to read it.

4) Nope. I can only assume though

5) See answer 3

6) Probably a handful

7) Nope, has nothing to do with my attitude on here, it has everything to do with my hatred for you in particular though.

You're welcome..
