Quote:You forget I'm European and I watch plenty of Ed Byrne and Dara O'Briain. I'm well aware what gee means.

Gee and [BAD WORD REMOVED] are not quite the same. [BAD WORD REMOVED] means idiot where I live.

Quote:Is that what he did? Talk about the mods??? I'm just trying to learn what not to do..

Don't get enough warnings to earn repeat suspensions.

Especially for the very same things.

There's no secret.  It's all in the rules.
Quote:I know this will fall on some deaf ears, but the moderators question some of the words in the filter list, too.

I didn't say who it was.  I just find it funny that particular word is a bad word.  Hell, I hear that on the Disney Channel.

I agree with you.
I think we can all agree that nothing's perfect, but it's also always evolving.  The filter is mostly mature and set up, but things are added from time to time as they crop up.

Back in the day, there was no filter.  Everything got warning.

Now that it's filtered, it's filtered automatically and no warning.  I've always had mixed feelings about that.

Preaching to the choir!!

Why? That's what automation is for, to reduce the need for manual intervention.

Because before, people would get a warning.

Now, no.

Just because of a flip of a switch.  Not fair to those warned before the filter.  Now you can [BLEEP] away without consequence, even though it's filtered.

Well, you guys can. The word filter doesn't work on my posts.

I think you're pretty safe because people usually don't pay attention to your posts anyway.

I just seen a bad word!
Quote:Does this post get a warning for containing a banned word?
Whoops.
Quote:Whoops.

You're lucky I'm not a mod or you'd be warned within an inch of your life.
Quote:Lot's of questions, so I'll just answer down the line, one by one..

1) Yup

2) Because I've been dealing with punks my whole life

3) Don't know nor do I care, I know the thread you're referring to, but didn't care to read it.

4) Nope. I can only assume though

5) See answer 3

6) Probably a handful

7) Nope, has nothing to do with my attitude on here, it has everything to do with my hatred for you in particular though.

You're welcome..

Your recent responses lead me to believe you are a ticking time bomb.

However, this board is based and run in Jacksonville, Fl. U.S.A. correct?  I wonder what percentage of people that participate on the message board happen to live here?  The other thing to look at and take into consideration is that if a rule is in place and justified as this being a "family friendly" message board, it should apply to all topics, not just select topics such as profanity or "veiled profanity".

The other thing that should be considered is the worldwide visitors that come here.  The same rules that apply to us should apply to them as well.

Heck, "profanity" is being used in this very thread right now.  Our Euro friends are using it freely and from looking it up myself it basically means something that rhymes with hunt or ditch when referring to a woman in a vulgar way [BAD WORD REMOVED].  You have a mod/admin just letting it go that is European while knowing what it means.

So here is a question.  Since the filter didn't pick that up as a bad word, do our Euro friends (including our foreign Admin) get a warning or do they get a pass?

No worries, I have a long fuse..

And at least you didn't call me racist. So that's progress.
Quote:However, this board is based and run in Jacksonville, Fl. U.S.A. correct?
Actually, for tax purposes this board is based in the Cayman Islands.

So since profanity or "veiled profanity" is not tolerated on this board, does that apply only to us superior Americans alone, or does it apply to you foreigners as well?

You superior Americans are held to a higher standard, whereas us peasant Europeans are considered to be incorrigible.

I think it's like a tree falling in a forest.

If no one notices (in this case.. understands it,) did it happen?

Can we call each other bobo?  Without speaking it, you can't tell how it's being used.  Many words can mean many things when spoken, but impossible to tell in text.  In Spanish it can mean something negative (moreso if said with emphasis.)  Which is funny, because there are French/American adoptions of this word for faux intellectuals.  Which, in a roundabout and very unintentional way fits them very well.
