Quote:I'll take as many minuses as you want to dump on me if it gets the Jags a proven Superbowl-winning coach. Or even a proven winner who never made it to the Superbowl.

When the Rams hired [BAD WORD REMOVED] Vermeil he had been out of coaching for 15 years, working as an announcer. Khan was part owner of the Rams when Vermeil coached them to a Superbowl victory, so there's some history there. A lot depends on whether or not Khan weighs in, since I doubt Caldwell is the type to hire a proven veteran coach. He never even tried to interview a former NFL head coach with a winning record when he hired Bradley, not even Arians.
Good point.

As to your closing observation, keep in mind he worked with Mike Smith in Atlanta.

When Caldwell got the job here, Smith was still entrenched as head coach with the Falcons.

I'm betting should Bradley crash and burn here, Smith could be a consideration.
Quote:The Seattle offense or Seattle Defense sounds good... But we need to get to where people are saying that Jag Offense or Jag Defense.

The Jags offense is already its own.

It has nothing to do with Seattle's system.

I'm tired of all this Seattle comparison.

We have a HC that is employing a very similar defensive scheme since he was their DC and has adopted some of their HC's philosophy.

That's it.

We aren't "Seattle South." Even the defense in Jax will take on its own identity soon as these young players come into their prime.

He was?
I'm cautiously optimistic but also afraid too many people are overly optimistic. .500 with some solid wins (not by penalty flukes) and NO embarrassing blowouts would satisfy me that the arrow is pointed in the right direction.
Quote:Poor St Louis. Could have had Khan and still have their team.

I lived there for 5 miserable years and my empathy has expired.  They have the baseball Cardinals so all is well there.  I'm a NHL Blues fan because my daughter loves that team and I take her to games.  It is fun sitting in American Airlines Arena rooting for them around the Dallas faithful.

Jacksonville lucked out big time with the flat rejection of Khan in STL.
Quote:He was?

lol no. Khan never owned any part of the Rams.
Quote:I could be wrong but I still do not see Bradley as the guy who will lead this team to the promised land.

It reminds me of the 49ers a few years ago. A ton of talent that languished under mediocre coaches like Mike Nolan and Mike Singletary. And then they hired Harbaugh and they were a Super Bowl contender every year.

This, i dont see Bradley as the answer for this team.

My mistake. I thought I had read that in one of the stories about this.

Yeah i get tired of hearing that too.. And i was using the jags offense just as an example.. But lets see if Gus scheme work with the talent we have now on defense...
I'm not saying Kahn is totally onboard with the entire Seattle South thing but it does seem a little suspicious that he's attempting to change the Jags logo to the one shown below ...

Get a real head coach, not a special teams coordinator and then wake me up

What is this?

Many fans are overly optimistic every year. I guess it just goes with being a teal tea drinking fan.

I'm with you about this season though; I would be very happy if we can manage a solid .500 season. By 'solid', I mean no 'backdoor' wins via bizarre penalties or fluky last second 'hail Mary' plays and no embarrassing 'blowout' losses. No losses at all to teams we really should (at least on paper) have beaten. A .500 record built on pretty solid football would sure leave me feeling more positive about the long term expectations for this team. Fluke wins, while they count the same in the record books, don't inspire much confidence. We'll take it if that's what we get... but winning via good football is always better.

this is my Mr. obvious post for the day. thank you.
Every team has fluke wins. The pats won a superbowl on a fluke play.

All that matters is wins.

And the Panthers lost to the Falcons.  A team 'on paper that they should have beaten'.
Quote:My mistake. I thought I had read that in one of the stories about this.

Khan was a box Suite holder For the Rams and then attempted to buy them in 2009 but was rejected by Stan the man Kronke had his 3 Day ownership clause But the Rams lost is the Jaguars Gain.

Quote:So, say Gus disappoints and gets canned in 2016...who do we realistically think replaces him? We all know Caldwell will survive, and I doubt he'd want to hire another rookie head coach like Gus...so who?

-1 for anyone who says Tom Coughlin, Jay Gruden, or Bill Cowher. Ain't happenin.
