Quote:Oley?

Would you choose him over Marrone? It's a good question; Olie has looked pretty good as an OC at times, especially here, and Marrone kinda did quit on the bills. I don't think (m)any proven playoff-winning coaches are going to be available this offseason, so we might very well be looking at one of those guys since they know the team and all. I would go with Olie personally over Marrone, but the first name on my list that I'd like to see brought in if Gus gets the boot was brought up by someone a few posts ago: Mike Smith.

Dave doesn't appear to agree. Until then...

Because he was kept, does not mean his seat is not hot.

Quote:Poor St Louis. Could have had Khan and still have their team.

Screw St. Louis and everyone else to be honest. Everyone dogs on us without mercy. I still hear jabs taken at our fanbase and team till this day. Take a listen around radio stations across the country. We still have our team and we ain't moving to London or LA. I can't wait till we're hated for winning.

Quote:While winning is nice, I've kind of gotten addicted to this entire Mock Draft phenomenon from October through April.

Not to mention the stress we've avoided by not playing important games in years. Once you start winning, the pressure is on.
Preaching the the choir. We are well aware and overdue for a string of winning seasons. Gus has to take a big step forward this year in terms of coaching. He had some real head scratchers even late last year. I want him to succeed, but I really think he is in over his head in a big way.

He is right about one thing, the fans and team has suffered through way too much.

This season will probably show the biggest turnaround compared to 2013-2015. At least 7 wins without any embarassing losses and things are looking up
This to me is a hint to the future of Gus! I believe Khans loyalty is with the fans of Jacksonville.. And not the coach and Gm... Ultimately if jags do bad this year Gus is gone..
Mike Smith, now that's a definition of coaching up to make more with less. Granted he had twin towers but jeez his Ds were sound. Our wavering offenses during his tenure didn't help his cause. But he was still discovered and thrived well.

He's my guy if Gus gets canned.
Shad's correct. Let's face it - some of these games over the past few years have been brutal to watch. Teams have had their way with us. Reminds me of those horrible videos where someone is clubbing a seal.

I really don't understand what some are reading in to this:

“I think we’ve suffered long enough,” Khan said, chuckling during a recent phone interview with USA TODAY Sports. “It’s been painful.”

But Khan thinks he’ll know if coach Gus Bradley, general manager Dave Caldwell and the rest of the staff are the right people to continue guiding the Jaguars over the long term without relying on the standings, the same process-based thinking that has driven his patience to this point.

I simply don't see anything in the above quote that suggest what others are apparently gleaning from the article. Just more eagerness from folks who would have fired Gus before now licking their chops in anticipation their dreams may come true.

Regardless, I agree that Mike Smith would be a good replacement should it come to that.
Quote:My mistake. I thought I had read that in one of the stories about this.
He tried to buy the Rams but Krohnke had first dibs and took it and the team to LA... So he then turned to Weaver and the First Coast and the rest is history thankfully

I actually think this would be a good possibility. And probably not well received by those fans wanting to make a big splash. But makes sense to me. John O has said Oly will probably be up for consideration at some point for HC. Why not our own.

Sometimes there isn't a splash to be made.

-----

Let's say Gus does get shown the door, in typical patient Khan fashion, I think it'd be at year's end. So let's say Gusy goes 7-9 and while the improvement truly is there Khan tells DC, "We gotta try something/someone else"

So Gus is gone at Season's end, with no position coach getting any interim time.

DC's choices will now become some other team's hot coordinator. Our own coordinators. Some really old guy who had success many years ago. Or some college coach that isn't wanted by their college anymore (Les Miles, Gus Malzhan)

Are you turds really looking forward to this already?

If we bring back Joe Cullen, at least we'd be talking about happy meals and drive thrus instead of ice cream and sprinkles.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. New coach, new gripes beginning even before they're hired.
