Blackmon vs ARob makes for a good debate. I'll give ARob the nod for catching the deep ball better and being better at getting separation, but it's after the ball is in his hands where I ultimately give Blackmon the edge. Now at least ARob will take the ball and head downfield toward the endzone wherein he does rack up TDs too, but he's not quite the playmaker after the catch. Blackmon would snag the ball, and at that point it was game on as he had a way to out-juke immediate defenders and then lead the rest of the defenders on a wild goose chase as he maneuvered his way downfield for the score. Almost every time Blackmon touched the ball you wondered if he was scoring. He was like the ultimately running back downfield with glue for hands when it came to catching passes.

Arob is bigger, faster, and he isn't on the sauce. He had 1400 yds his 2nd year, and he was looking good as a rookie before his injury. Blackmon had a few monster games, but he was invisible in a few as well. Some of that blame goes to the Hennbert Bros we had at QB, but I really think Arob is the more talented of the two. AR15 is the next AJ Green of the NFL IMO.

His demons wound up being a blessing in disguise for this team though, because with him on the roster and active, we could have won at least one more game in 2013, which could have dropped us as low as 8th in the 2014 draft order, which means we may well have missed out on Bortles, Lee, Robinson, et al.
Bortles probably would have been available at 8.

arob is leaps an bounds better way more consistent I can only remember one bad game last year in week one against Carolina where 90%of the board called bust lol ahhh good times
I think ARob has the advantage, but there's really no denying that when he was on his game, Blackmon was a beast. It's a tragedy that his addiction ended what probably would have been a stellar NFL career.

I'm trying to recall a game where Blackmon played but was "invisible." I think to say a "few" is quite a stretch. I can't think of any. Maybe there was one.

Like I said, when you've got the Hennbbert duo throwing you the ball, it's not hard to do. Yeah, he had a couple monster games, but he wasn't dominant on a weekly basis in the same way Arob was last year. It almost didn't even matter what CB he was going against last year. Blackmon I don't think you can say that about.

I just glanced at Blackmon's stats, and he indeed was at least productive, if not dominant, on a weekly basis. Aside from his first several weeks as a rookie, there was only one game vs the Bills where he was held to a solo catch, and I'm not seeing any such games as a sophomore.

I looked at his 2012 stats too. Productive, depending on your definition of the word. 865 yards in a full season isn't really anything to write home about IMO. Yea, he had a few monster games like I said, but his stats aren't nearly as consistent as AR15 in his 2nd year.

Coming off of The Cocaine Cowboy and Soul Train Williams, Blackmon looked beast
He definitely looked the part, and if he had a better QB, his numbers likely would have been higher in 2012. I'm trying to argue (without sounding like a homer) that Justin Blackmon, the top 5 pick, wasn't as good or even as talented as Allen Robinson, who we picked in the 2nd round. When I say Blackmon disappeared occasionally, I mean he would follow up a 100+ yard performance with a 2-4 catches for 30-40 yards type of performance. AR15 dominated consistently last year, and it's not just because Bortles is a better QB and we abandoned the run game.
