I posed this very question to a Root Administrator (a paid member of the franchise, aka one of the powers that be) and the answer was an emphatic no.
Quote:I can certainly agree with you there. However, to moderate such discussions would be a living "hell" (see what I did there?).
You might be and probably are right. I have been impressed though (and maybe others haven't) with the level of discussion in the political section. I feel like there are more personal attacks in the Jaguars section during regular season than I'm seeing in the political section. Maybe that isn't the case, but that is my perception of it based on what I have seen.

Gotcha. I'm sure there was more interest and push to get the political section than religious one.

lol well we have a smaller amount of people that participate in the political section. If we ever had the participation in the political section that you have in the main forum it would get ugly really fast.
I ask you, is this not a discussion about religion? Seems to be going rather smoothly.
I mean come on, Christians on the board obviously won't, or at least shouldn't be getting angry at others, so the arguments would be dead in no time!
I think it would be nice to be able to frame political discussions through the religious elements that obviously drive them without needing to worry that we might be breaking a rule. That being said, I feel like a religious forum is a bad idea. I mean, the political forum is feisty enough.
Quote:I would say that it probably aint gonna happen.
Oh I'm certain it won't lol.
To some politics are their religion, so you could argue we already have one.
Quote:Make the section..
I'll be good..
May I join you for popcorn and snooty beer?

Yes you may.. But bring a tarp cause things will get messy

I got the tarp and these fancy hipster glasses. I think the indigenous population called them mason jars!
Quote:Politics change, there is a debate to be had. Religion on the other hand is a belief system, logic, reasoning, debates, none of it changes religion. so what's the point? You'd just have a religion bashing thread every day from different posters, and then believers defending their belief system for whatever reason. Is someone going to really convert over a message board?
Right on Eric.
To add on...
I agree that a religion forum would basically just end up turning into a bunch of flame war's between people insulting other people's faith's. Moreover, any serious, rational discussion about religious/spiritual questions and issues, requires a fairly in-depth knowledge of philosophy, theology, rationalism, ability to use reason and logic, etc. I don't mean to sound insulting, but I don't think anybody on this MB is mature enough to handle religious content in a serious objective manner using the methods described above.
We allow discussions on all kinds of fiction, why not allow religion as well

Exhibit A.
