Ouch. Good for Fowler. Not so much for Joeckel.
Hopefully it's just a case of Fowler being that good, though I'm sure it's a combo.
Seems to me, last I recall, the last time we saw Joeckel in pads, he was beaten for 4-5 sacks in a single game.

The still shots of Luke getting abused are the gift that keep on giving.

Look how fast Fowler shed him.
I saw Luke getting 3rd string reps today. Could be an omen for him.
Whatever your opinion on Joeckel may have been prior to today... There's no reason for it to change from a few underwear drills.

He's a huge disappointment in terms of draft position, and he sucked in at least one game last year, played too inconsistently on 4 or 5 others and was pretty good in the rest.

Fowler getting by him with no pads doesn't change my opinion on him.

He's got an uphill battle to be more than LT/LG depth and that's fine.

Picked him up after he was cut from the Jets. I was watching Jaguars.com and it was mentioned that he's been struggling with drops since he's been here and Gus has been riding his [BLEEP]. Looks like all that riding is starting to pay off. The 5th WR position will be one of the most interesting camp battles to watch with Walters, Benn, and Evans all vying for that one spot.
He was getting 3rd  string reps at LG, not tackle. He was still first string tackle.

Understood. That still doesn't bode well for him. Beachum will all but beat out Joeckel once healthy and if Joeckel can't beat out Shatley and Bernadeau at LG he's riding the bench.
Joeckel is finished in Jacksonville in less he pulls an Orlando Pace or Joe Thomas type effort in 2016. That entire draft class in fairness to Caldwell was pretty weak. You could maybe argue that we should have selected Ezkiel Ansah or Lane Johnson but it wasn't easy that year with the evaluating.

I've changed my mind and decided to give Dave the benefit of the doubt that year. I go on the assumption he lost all of his notes and had to use Gene Smith and his scouts notes.

If it isn't true, dont kill my dream.

Im sorry but Luke had 1 bad game, this is either really really bad for the Joke(regression from last year continuing), or Fowler is the real deal and LJ is just struggling to block a good DE. Hopefully its the latter.

How is either scenario good for Joeckel?

The schedule is replete with "real deal" pass rushers.

Guys like Clay Matthews, Melvin Ingram, Khalil Mack, Von Miller, Tamba Hali, Ziggy Ansah, Everson Griffen and others.

If Joeckel is playing, he has to be able to block these guys.

Bortles has taken too many hits as is.  Not all of those hits are Joeckel's fault, but having a LT (or LG for that matter) who can't pass protect effectively does not help matters at all.
I think it was interesting listening to Olsen's latest interview. Seemed to put an emphasis on Joeckel's performance at left guard rather than LT. Beachum is nigh on guaranteed to be the starter at LT I'd say.

Methinks we'll see a RB shading the left side in protection A LOT this season  :turned:

Fingers crossed that Beachum and whoever ends up at LG can dig deep.
