Quote:And now the winning goalie, Craig, is auctioning off all his prized memorabilia from the game. Must not be so great for him.

3 million for some used hockey equipment?  How does it get any greater than that?  I wonder what I could get for my Bauer's.
Quote:Why? His stuff is supposed to net $3 million dollars.

" Supposed"

But yeah...forget the memories when you can sell them.

Your Bauers are worth something...get the rust off the blades first..Smile

It's his stuff to do with as he pleases. I know that can be hard for people who think they have some right to other people's property.

No one is arguing that. Who has a right to his property....only he decides that. The guy with the most money it is.

Sell all your family heirlooms. Sell your valuables. It is absolutely your right.

Sad thing is...do you want to sell these things...or have to.

All in all its just material things. The worth is in the eye of the beholder.

If he didn't need the money,it would be nice to see them in the Hockey Hall of Fame for us all to see, vs some guy with too much money that'll buy a goalie stick for a few grand for himself.

As always, money talks

You could probably get in on the action and make the donation yourself.

Sadly, money does talk, possibly louder in sports than any other aspect of our society.

Hopefully, some purchasers will put a few items out on loan to the HHOF.
Quote:I would say our last great peak was the Reagan/Bush years, seems to have been slowly treading downward ever since.

Really? The 90's were pretty good with the tech boom.

We're definitely in the Boom/Bust cycle. I can't wait for the Education loan bust to happen. That, coupled with the reinflation of the housing bubble, is going to be a huge problem for the next president and congress.

So very true.

The change in bankruptcy laws in 2005 is a large part of that. Students are given tens of thousands of dollars, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans they will spend decades paying back. And unlike any other type of loan, student loans cannot be discharged. Even if someone declares bankruptcy, they are still liable for their student loans. That is a reason why some students can't get a $500 credit card from a bank but can get a $100,000 student loan.

Did you win something? Because that would be very cool!
Best - Clinton years. Sorry, but statistically it's a fact.

Worst ( but thought by many as the best, despite enough back-room deals to make Donald Trump blush while punishing and ultimately bankrupting the lower and middle class )? Yup - the Reagan years. How he wasn't impeached is a testament to our tolerance of corruption. And it took a decade to dig all but the wealthy out of the "trickle down theory" heck hole.

The sad results of a modern education.
Around the 1770s-80s roughly

Thank you. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Your ignorance, obstinance, denial, and bias is attributed to lack of education? Typical. If you would like to refute my statement, I would love to read your drunken incoherent ramblings.

A snarky comment is about all the substance you are gonna get. Just be happy you are right.

Were you kids even alive when Carter was President?

Wait... You assert that the Reagan years were worse than the Carter years, and you accuse someone else of being drunk and incoherent?
