Quote:Wait... You assert that the Reagan years were worse than the Carter years, and you accuse someone else of being drunk and incoherent?

The scholars don't agree with your opinion.

Exactly, everyone knows you're quite coherent when you're drunk.

Thank you.
I see him rated ahead of Carter.... What am I missing?
Quote:Best - Clinton years. Sorry, but statistically it's a fact.

Worst ( but thought by many as the best, despite enough back-room deals to make Donald Trump blush while punishing and ultimately bankrupting the lower and middle class )? Yup - the Reagan years. How he wasn't impeached is a testament to our tolerance of corruption. And it took a decade to dig all but the wealthy out of the "trickle down theory" heck hole.

I just can't........

You're right, I checked the numbers.  Economically, Obama has brought half the country to it's knees. Under Clinton, only got Monica there.

If there's one segment not trusted by conservatives and especially by tea partiers, it's scholars.

Damn! The mods have become more lax with the "suggestive content" recently.
Quote:We all are obviously well attuned to the slogan: "Make America Great Again", but can Trump or any of these politicians actually give a SPECIFIC time period or date that America was considered "Great"? Was it after World War 2? was it during the Reagan/Bush (Sr.) years? was it right after the Fall of the Soviet Union when we were the sole Superpower?

Most importantly, I'm interested in hearing everyone's own opinions about this. It's a very interesting topic. Does Trump have a point? or is this just political rhetoric designed to fume further anger at the establishment?
It's purely code for make America more white and conservative circa 1950's America.

Well, when you read through the Libo-pedia link you do find that it doesn't really say what he thinks it does. it certainly doesn't say that Clinton rules and Raygun drools. But, yeah, some of those lists have luminaries like Wilson, Truman, and LBJ near the top and that's just silly.

Lol why are you people so adverse to the truth? I guess it's just so much easier to live the republican fantasy. Such a cop out, tho. My word.

No politician or anyone else can give a specific time because the standard is purely subjective.  How do you measure "Great"?  The size of your military or the national debt?  The rate of inflation or the rate of unemployment?  If the price of gas drops to $1.00/gallon but the crime rate soars, is the country better off?

It always just political rhetoric.  In this case not even original:

I read your link, considered it, found it to be what I expected. As I asked, what do remember about the Carter years that you found them preferable to the Reagan years?

And it's funny to be called a cop out by the Wiki Wonderboy.

Looking at the chart, overall Reagan was rated much higher than Carter.

The discussion stemmed from an earlier post that Reagan was the worst, most corrupt, etc.
I'll try to keep up.
