Quote:Fournette will not come to Jax.   Can sugar coat a zillion threads and at end of day.   He chose to skip his own bowl game.   So you don't think Tom or Dave will have inside head.   What do we do if he choses to sit out during playoffs or superbowl?

To keep his padded stats.

He gave up on his team.  Tom preaches Team.  Yet drafts the guy who gave up on his?  During most important game?   "Drops Mic"

Good God this is one of the stupidest things I've seen...and that's saying something.

Sitting out of games isn't the concern.  He is a hell of a power back, i'll give him that.  The problem with Fournette is that he didn't dominate on his team like you would expect from a star RB especially a Top 10 RB.  The draft has had good backs and ppl still were saying RBs shouldn't be drafted high anymore then Zeke comes out and now everyone wants to mock one early.  I'm going with the tape and if we go RB early my gut says Cook is better Overall but after off the field concerns, Its all about who will be in the league to finish their career and who wont make it.

Just draft neither and take Mixon in the 2nd and if you can't trade back take OJ then take OL in rd 2 and if Mixon is available in the late 2nd.... trade up and get him.

It is a huge problem.   Cause goes against toughness and will to win Coughlin has preached all offseason.   It is a mixed signal to the locker room as well.

if it was his coaches decision, that actually would help his case with Coughlin.  He wants tough hard nosed players but he also wants leaders of men who will lead their peers but also follow the instructions of their Coach/Leaders.  If he would've went against the coaches decision then it will be cause for concern since he puts self above team regardless of who says otherwise.

No that's being a teammate.  What he in fact did  was using his own coach to be a scape gate with a mutual decision.

LOL

Y'all gonna let TTR turn this into a Fournette character thread?

If Fournette isn't drafted by the Jags - it will be because they collectively believe there is a better football player available at #4.

Fournette's mythical team spirit issue (which exists only in the mind of one poster apparently)  is somewhere way, way down the list of potential reasons he won't be a Jaguar.

oh i didnt realize that TTR is actually CTjags. I guess that explains everything.
Yeah, I obviously have a myriad of concerns about taking Fournette...but skipping the bowl game ain't one of them.

Well folks, looks like i found the number 1 seed in the 2017 preposterous statement tournament.

How do you figure that Fournette didn't dominate? I watch his tape and I see him dominating 8-men in-the-box defenses.

As for Mixon, drafting him in round two would be a PR disaster. The Jaguars would be facing many empty seats every week as a direct result. Also, I've watched a bit of Mixon and really don't see him in the same tier as Fournette and McCaffery.

Big big difference between those two as you know.

Fournette wasn't dominating stacked box defenses. As I showed statistically in the other thread, he was avoiding them on the tosses/sweeps and gaining league average yards when running into them.

I know FBC would be all over the Jags like white on rice.
Quote:Meaningless bowl. Game. Says you.

This is nice and dandy. But winning. Is what it is all about. Jaylon Smith quit on his team when carted. Off the field with nerve. Damage. Did not want him in team.

"Picks up and redrops mic"
Haha

Smith ended up on the Cowboys and produced better with an established team.

Fournette later said it was a mutual decision not only the coaches. And outside of Fournette being a big man with good speed what ya got?

Picks up mic and drops mic into the st. Johns river.

Jaylon produced better with the Cowboys? Maybe you should drop yourself into the river with that mic.

But I never hid that fact. At least 100 of us changed names. When had chance to do so.

And I was doing my podcast on my for fun sports radio network. So that name works.

My point was in a better situation. I have stated numorous times. Dont have time to watch other teams players. So if he did not. It happens.

But lets go assume here. Smith sits out does not get injured. Some one else takes Ramsey and we get Smith happy now?

He played hurt the entire year. He was marked out of the Fla game then last minute suited up. He had high, low, and a bone bruise he played on. Let us not act like he just didn't feel like it he tried to play the best he could on the injury.

Ya know though.  When ya play on any good team.  Team first is the mentality.  Does not matter if injured if not severe.   And does not matter a draft slot.  The fact he skipped his most important game.  To come out on top as a team player.  Speaks volumes in my eyes.  To many it is not a big deal.  To me and the way I was raised.  It is a major one.

If I have someone moving on that is fine and dandy.  But still has to put on the best show for last one.
Regardless of what RB we do or don't take, the fact remains that we still have one of the worst run blocking offensive lines in the league and all we've done is replace Beachum with Albert.

We don't have a starting LG on the roster, Cann didnt progress as expected, Parnell was inconsistent, and we added nothing of value in FA. This draft needs to be heavy on the offensive line with guys that can create holes. Whether its Fournette, Cook, McCaffrey, or Mixon, none of them will prove helpful if we dont make changes up front.

Best case scenario for this season:

Draft a starting guard in round 2

Hope Cann turns into core player

Hope Parnell isn't inconsistent again

Hope Albert is a significant upgrade at LT

I believe we need to come away from the draft with 2 quality offensive linemen, a starting guard and a tackle that can step in should an injury happen or poor play happens.
