He is the 5th overall pick.
You don't draft a CB that high if you plan on insulating him from the best WRs in the league.
You draft a CB that high because you think he can handle the best WRs from other teams. If the coach finds it necessary to protect Ramsey from having to cover a guy like Jordy Nelson, Ramsey was not the guy to draft.
Absolutely!

Not really, how else will he get better?? Granite i would give him help over the top from time to time.. You can only become great by playing great players!

An interesting watch might be the SEA/GB games. Obviously not exactly the same but to what they did would give us an idea of what works and doesnt and what we might try.

You can only become great by playing great players!sure but easing him in can be just as effective. Jordy is not only physically gifted but one of the smartest most efficient route runners in the league, and id much rather have a more experienced corner on him. This all depends on how well ramsey does in the offseason but as of now it just doesnt make sense to throw a less qualified rookie on someone of jordys caliber just because of his draft position.

Quote:Is there a "lesser" Packers receiver you'd like to have him cover?Just because we drafted Ramsey at #5 doesn't mean he's going to be shadowing every #1 receiver we play this year. Prince hasn't had 100 yards against in 50 games I believe. I'd start him and Ramsey outside with House in the slot. Gives us two big press guys with great tackling outside.

Although I see no reason why we shouldn't Ramsey on him if things arn't working out.

2. I've read scouting reports for days and listened to the likes of Mayock and Kiper. I've yet to see ANY scouting reports label his CB skills as being "raw." He moved from position to position, but not because he couldn't hack it at any one position.
3. Should we wait until his 4th game? 10th? He'd still be a rookie then. Should we wait until his second season before putting him on a #1 WR?
By the time he finishes the preseason, he will have gone against Hurns, Robinson, Lee and Greene every day in practice, and against the likes of Mike Evans, AJ Greene and the Jets duo. He'll be prepared for Nelson if he's the guy we think he is.
If he isn't, there isn't going to be any way to shield him at CB.

We don't know if the coaches will keep him on one side of the field like they did Richard Sherman the first few years, or shadow them wherever like Peterson.
Although I see no reason why we shouldn't Ramsey on him if things arn't working out.
But it doesn't mean they will protect him by having him NOT cover a team's number one WR, either. Teams don't willingly spend a top 5 pick on a guy who doesn't have the athletic ability or the confidence or short memory to cover an opponent's #1 WR.

Quote:1. He went to Florida State, not Florida.unless he comes out of the preseason looking like a million bucks, theres no reason he should be on a top 10 receiver. As of what weve seen from his college days he is not talented enough yet. I dont see why you feel the need to rush him into a role he most likely isnt ready for when we have two damn good corners with more experience to put on jordy.

What does jalen have right now besides athleticism over prince and house

Otherwise, Rodgers will burn him no matter which receiver he is covering. It's not a matter of "rushing" him.
The question is can he play or not?
If he can play, with his physical tools, there is no reason NOT to put him on Nelson-other than the defense/offensive formation mandates it.
"Protecting" a CB who isn't ready or lacks the ability to perform against the likes of Aaron Rodgers is a fool's errand and an exercise in futility.

It's not a matter of "rushing" him.again with the black and white statements, can he play or not isnt an adequate question. Can he cover Jordy Nelson at this stage in his career? Or is he better suited to cover a lesser receiver like davante adams? I really dont understand why the concept of ramsey not being ready at this time is difficult to grasp.

I can see your side of it.I just think covering Jordy is a tall task for someone in their first game.
Ramsey does match up best physically with him though I suppose. A lot depends on how training camp/preseason goes. He has the potential to be the clear cut no.1 corner off the bat and he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would shy away at all.

Meh...I'm not too worried about Green Bay's offense. They're overrated. They were 23rd in overall offense last year. Nelson's recovery/health is a question mark, Lacy has only been in shape for a couple of months out of his entire career, Cobb isn't a #1 WR, and Rodgers holds onto the ball too long.
