There was a figure that represented Norman's value as perceived by the JAGS.
Norman was looking for Numero Uno money and of course Dan Snyder stepped forward.
Hope he wasn't planning on playing for a contender.

Quote:Von Miller and Demarcus Ware made Malik's job easy.
It's a team sport, and I'm sure he helped them out too..
That being said who knows maybe Jackson, Fowler Jr, and Telvin Smith can have a group photo this year?
Quote:I'm personally glad that we did not give those hefty contracts to either Norman or Vernon. It's not like our defense would have been complete anyway. I'm sure the Jaguars will make a significant leap in their performance for this year. As far as the defense is concerned though, I'd say we are an additional offseason away from rebuilding it completely. When the 2017 season rolls around, I'd say we will have rebuilt the team completely on both sides of the ball. I'm anticipating a deep playoff push next year. 9-7 should be the goal this year.
You never really win by throwing all your money at good veterans at least Malik Jackson, Tashaun Gipson, Davon House, Prince Amukamara were all under 26 when they were signed in Jacksonville.
They still can be very productive for 5 years in the NFL, but Josh Norman had a fantastic Pro Bowl year last season but hasn't always played at that high of a level and is turning 29 soon.
His deal is really 2 years 37 million with the rest being optional. The Redskins could wash there hands with Him after 2 years.
He wont fit in our scheme... So... Yea.
Simply put, he was worth more to the Redskins than he was to Dave.
There are 32 teams in the NFL. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you can sign someone.
Congrats to Norman on his payday. Congrats to the Skins on getting a good corner.
Thursday is the draft. Wooo!

Good job by Redskins to cover themselves. No clue of the cap ramifications after that 2nd year if they cut him though

So they are paying out $50 million over two years then?

It's him!
Quote:It's him!
If he's not him he definitely reads him as he made the same exact comments yesterday about Blake surviving, about giving Caldwell an extension and about the lack of OL in the draft. Welp.
Nah, different guys but they're buddies on Twitter.

Different guys occupying the same grey matter. I wonder if they know about each other?
Quote:From T-U:
Norman’s franchise tag was worth $13.952 million but he never signed it, electing to see how negotiations on a new contract progressed before the July 15 deadline.
The Jaguars are a natural fit for Norman because they remain without a no-doubt No. 1 cover corner and have the salary cap space to pay him.The Jaguars are $52.5 million under the cap, more than every team but San Francisco, meaning they could easily construct a contract averaging $15 million per year, eclipsing the Jets’ Darrelle Revis ($14.024 million), Arizona’s Patrick Peterson ($14.01 million) and Seattle’s Richard Sherman ($14 million).
He reportedly wanted to sign the franchise tag and fired his agent over it, but then the Panthers claimed the paperwork to rescind it had already taken place. He truly lucked out with his new agent providing him with the long term & very high upfront guaranteed money that he had truly wanted to begin with.
It's not Dave Caldwell's money and he has to tell his boss why he over paid millions for an aging CB that had only one great year in his career (last year). Could Josh Norman be one of the best CBs again this season, possibly but it wasn't worth the risk vs the money.
