Completely lazy journalism
Quote:Jaguars passed on Ogden in favor of Hardy in 1996. How did that work out? If Caldwell has Tunsil at the top of his board by a lot over Bosa, they have to take him even though it's not a sexy pick.

I hate this argument. OT just isn't as important as it has been in previous years. How impactful has Joe Thomas been to the Browns or Tyron Smith been to the Cowboys? The Browns are still the Browns and Tony Romo still gets hurt every year even behind the best offensive tackle and O-Line.

In 1999 the Jags selected Fred Taylor over Tra Thomas. Both players worked out but which would you rather have?
Quote:Completely different era. Boselli and Ogden's impact in today's era is only a fraction of what it was in previous generations. I don't think it would be a stretch to debate that Hardy would be more impactful than Ogden in today's NFL.
lol, sometimes im not sure if you really believe or if you just say stupid stuff like this to be different or funny
Quote:He said that when he was an FA and had a choice to choose another team if they said they envisioned him at guard. Now that he's signed and the option might be play guard or ride the pine he might be forced to sing a different tune. I'm sure he wouldn't be happy about it, but I think he would probably do it.

The more pertinent question might be would he even be good at guard? He's already an undersized LT who gets by with incredible footwork and technique, and is only average in the run game. Not quite the same skill set as what it takes to be the dominant road grading guard we are wanting paving the way for our new Chris Ivory toy I don't think.
He has the size but yeah, not sure about his technique.

What about Tunsil at LT, Beachum at RT (or visa versa), and Parnell at guard? There are other guards out there that are 6'6"

Yeah Parnell kicking in to guard would make a ton more sense than Beachum.

I'd be down for that. Potential for a pretty good O line.
Quote:that would be the ultimate buzzkill if we got Tunsil.

I mean it really would. Not that Tunsil isn't great, because I'm sure he will be, but geez.
Another 5 win season wouldn't be a buzzkill?
My worst nightmare coming true. The jags drafting another average left tackle and that's what he is, average.

Dude, Tunsil has all the tools to be a elite bookend LT. You can't possibly tell me you think Bosa will be a guy that will be an elite pass rusher and up there with Von Miller.

There's a legit possibility Tunsil can be on the Tyrone Smith level of LT's.
The Jags offense is playoff capable imo. To me if a team can score 25+ a game they should win it

I just can't see DC going offense at #5

"Offense wins games, defense wins championships"

Fowler was supposed to change that.

Point being... no one player will do that.  Not Tunsil or Bosa, or <insert name here>

It's going to take a good draft class, continued development of guys already on the roster, and contribution from our FA additions.

Go home, you're drunk.

Not for me.   I would be pretty fired up about how our offense is shaping up.
Charles Davis is high, and knows nothing about the Jaguars. Tunsil would be great, but we have greater holes to fill, and it starts with pass rusher. There is no chance that we take Tunsil at pick 5. This pre-draft speculation by analysts is getting ridiculous. I guess it's just some drama to keep everyone in suspense.
I think you trade down if Tunsil is there. I also would prefer Deforest Buckner over Bosa as well.

I agree with the first part. If Tunsil falls into your lap you have to seriously consider trading down as there should be a few teams calling, hoping to get ahead of the Ravens who will likely scoop him up.

If Jack and Ramsey are already gone (and I'm not completely sold on Bosa still) then this is the best case outcome of the worst case scenario.
An ideal situation would be to convince Baltinore you are going to take Tunsil and scare them into swapping picks with you. We then pick up an extra pick and draft Bosa.

I actually like this train of thought. I'd be willing to part ways with Tunsil for an additional high pick for sure, but it has to be no lower than a 3rd.
I can't see them passing on Bosa to take Tunsil with Joeckel and Beachum on the roster.

Whoever the best defensive player (Ramsey, Bosa, Jack) that is on the board should be the pick.

Our offense will take another step forward this year but we need to load up on defense and fix that problem.
