Quote:The Jags offense is playoff capable imo. To me if a team can score 25+ a game they should win it

I just can't see DC going offense at #5

"Offense wins games, defense wins championships"

Unfortunately, we have to win enough games to make the playoffs and win a championship.

Our offense is good, but it isn't a top offense yet.  It's still wildly inconsistent.  The offensive line is the #1 reason for the inconsistency.  We need a run game to take pressure off Blake - via pass rush and passing on obvious passing downs  If we can straighten the line out to provide at least an average run game and improve some in pass blocking consistency, then this is an offense that can carry a team.

I would be good with a lot of picks at #5.  I would like Tunsil, Jack, Hargreaves and would be okay with Ramsey or Bosa.  The latter two scare me and I'm not real high on, but I could get on board if we drafted them.  I feel like Ramsey is more athlete than football player and that Bosa's pass rush ability is severely overrated and he has locker room cancer potential.
The Jags aren't taking Tunsil. They might listen to trade down offers if Tunsil is there. But they have Beachum/Joekel and are in need of defensive help.
Quote:Go home, you're drunk.

1. Let's take the guy that has never played a full season.

2. Let's take the guy that needs to get stronger according to scouts. That sound familiar?

3. Let's take the guy that, by his own admission, isn't a good run blocker.

4. Let's take the guy who played in the same kind of system that is killing the tackle position in the NFL.

5. Let's take the guy that's a finesse blocker that struggles with power speed rushers.

But...but...he's athletic. I'll remind you about this in 3 years when the jags are looking for a left tackle again because they took Tunsil. Left tackles have no business being drafted high any more.

Preach brotha! Preach!

2 sacks in 28 games.

Joeckel allowed 2 sacks in his final 26 games at Texas A&M.
There's a belief that the Jaguars are hoping for one of three defensive players - Ramsey, Jack or Bosa.

Based on past experience with these things, I don't believe that's the case. I believe that one of those three isn't actually on the team's radar, and one other player is.

And I personally suspect Bosa is the odd man out. I doubt they'd go Tunsil with Bosa still available, but I suspect another defensive player could be the choice there.

Boom
Tunsil isn't even in the same frigging sport as Tony Boselli or the previously mentioned Ogden. He's playing tag football compared to those two genuine world beaters.

Also, name an edge rusher in the SEC that's any good......

There are lots of very good non draft eligible pass rushers. Myles Garrett, Tim Williams, Jon Allen, Carl Lawson all probably DE1 in this class.
Regardless of Tunsil's future, the thought of someone saying LT isn't an important position anymore is hilarious.

There has been an extreme emphasis on rushing the passer in this era of football, you don't think blocking the blindside of the QB would be a HUGE priority? The last time atleast one LT wasn't drafted in the top 5 was 2011, where the first OT went at 9.

The whole " X" team having " X" player without success is such a weak argument. You could literally use it for every position.

No one said it wasn't important. Guards are important, but they generally aren't taken in the top 10. I view the tackle position the same way now. The exception being a guy with Tunsil's talent but who played in a pro style system rather than the crap so popular in college nowadays.
I think "coming from a pro system" isn't really important anymore. This is a passing league and probably 75% of plays are run out of the shotgun.

Ummm Myles Garrett lol

Except for the fact that 6 have been taken in the top 5 since 2012 compared to 0 guards.

Just for emphasis, that's top FIVE. Apparently, the NFL has a complete different opinion than you on LTs.
DC is not going to take Tunsil over the defensive talent that will be there.

Lane Johnson and Brandon Scherff.
So 6 LTs drafted...one of which is a good RT, one good OG, and 4 severe disappointments/busts?

You don't think that maybe... Those teams didn't expect those LTs to be severe disappointments...do you?

All of them were drafted as LTs to be LTs.
