Of all the players I've seen in this draft. IMO he's the only player I've seen that looks like a special talent, I've seen the video I know he hit a chick who swung at him blah blah but I'm confused about how little I've heard his name

Slapped him, not swung at him. He broke her face, jaw, and nose in 4 places requiring 8 hours of surgery before tucking tail and running away from the scene.

He refused to apologize or say that he had any regrets until last December when the video game out.

He was suspended again last November for ripping up a parking ticket, throwing it in the face of the officer, and threatening her with his car.

He was not invited to the combine and would be a public relations nightmare for any team willing to take a chance on him. I seriously doubt that TC would bring a player like that in but the Bengals interviewed him so maybe he lands there with guys like Pacman.

I've had my own life impacted by men who hit women. I would not be renewing my season tickets if we drafted him, doesn't matter how talented he is.

I think hitting women should be a no-go regardless, but with all this equality crap going around, don't hit someone and not expect to be hit back.

other stuff i've only heard from you so idk what to think about that.
We've discussed it at length in another thread with full sourcing there. You can also find the most recent incidents on his Wikipedia page. I don't really think women should hit or slap anyone either but I don't think the right or proportional response to a slap is a right hook. He did far more damage to that girl than Ray Rice ever did to his. I honestly don't think any NFL team should take him.

The kid is extremely talented. He is fast, elusive, powerful and can run in between the tackles. He is also a solid receiver out of the backfield. Too bad he decided to be such a "pimple on the butt of society" and do the crap he did. All he had to do was be a decent human being and he would've been a sure-fire top 10 pick, but he couldn't even accomplish this. Since the video is out there for the world to see, he's gonna be a P.R. nightmare for any team that drafts him, especially since he was so dismissive of his role in the incident. To this day, he still acts like people just need to "get over it." That kind of attitude is scary. I wouldn't have him on my team. The guy has issues. My gut tells me he could be a repeat offender. For God's sake, Chris Brown acted more apologetic about what he did and Brown is still being accused of repeated bad behavior. I wanna see how an NFL team tries to justify their selection of him. It should be interesting. The video makes it almost impossible.

He will get drafted before the 4th round...possibly going in the 2nd.

Top 10 talent but as said above will be a PR nightmare UNTIL he proves he is an amazing talent in the NFL.

Talent/Production trumps previous history. While I personally hope he never gets a chance just look at all the other NFL stars that have done sketchy stuff yet still got a chance. (Hill, Hardy, Ray Lewis..etc)

Basically if he becomes a stud he will be forgiven but if he doesn't live up to that billing whatever team that drafted him will have that cloud over them til he is eventually cut.
Someone's gonna get comfortably the most talented RB in the draft, and they're gonna get him as probably the 4th or 5th RB off the board (maybe even later).

Every scout/FO/insider I've seen says he's been extremely impressive and mature in his team interviews, so I'm willing to compartmentalize and give him a second shot if the Jags are the team that takes him.

Somone's gonna take him, may as well be us!  Best defender in the 1st, OG in the 2nd, Mixon in the third, we'd have a "fighting" chance!

LOL. You're "willing to compartmentalize and give him a second shot if the Jags are the team that takes him" because you're not actually the one putting his reputation (and possibly job) on the line by drafting him.

Say what you want. Drafting Mixon is an immediate PR hit, and would be a tough sell in Jacksonville. And no matter who else you draft, the top story is you drafted a domestic abuser.

I see almost no chance the Jaguars take Mixon.

Bolded the key word here. Just like with AD, Hill, Clark, Irving, etc. it will be a footnote in less than a year.

Maybe nationally. I can guarantee you that Hill is still a point of discussion in Kansas City. Mixon will be the only point of discussion in Jacksonville for a long time if the Jaguars draft him.
The more I watch this RB group, the more I believe its overrated. That's not to say it isn't good, as I think the top 3/4 can be very good RBs. I just don't think it warrants one at 4.

Fournette - Not a big fan of him making people miss when there's penetration. Put him in Dallas behind that OL and watch him run amock. Put him in ours where he has to dance in the backfield? That's enough of a concern for me.

Cook - Lack of pure strength, and injury and off-field issues lowers his grade.

McCaffrey - sneaky good all-around back. I think some will wonder if he's a 3 down guy. Love him in top of round 2, but he won't be there.

Mixon - good all-around RB with blend of the three above. But...he does not excel in any one particular trait. Is he closer to Bell, Forte, or Yeldon? The more I watch him, the more I think he's somewhere between Forte and Yeldon.

For the record, I would be thrilled to land any of the top three if we were drafting in mid or late 1st round. Mixon in the late 3rd/4th round.

It has fallen off a bit because the class as a whole disappointed athletically. As I said elsewhere, Mixon, McCaffrey, Kamara, Mack, and McNichols are the only plus athletes in the class. It's still deep, diverse, and talented...but instead of a glut of round 2/3 RBs we're probably looking at a glut of round 3/4 RBs.

I think that's a fairly accurate statement. But I'm still not sure the round 3/4 RBs turn out to be real studs, like say...how David Johnson or Ajayi in that draft class (along with Gurley/Gordon from the top of the draft).
It rubs me the wrong way that the NFL hasn't banned him outright. They're continuing to deliver the same message to young footballers everywhere: it doesn't matter how heinous the act, if you are talented with a football you'll get another chance.

Watch the video. The NFL blacklisted Ray Rice to try and send a message, but it rang hollow because the guy was at the end already. He was more remorseful and did less damage than Mixon too.

It's crazy to think a team is going to draft him with that video out there. He's gonna have a big target on him too; I hope we stay far far away, and I'm confident we will.
Draft him at #35.

Then pay Greg Jones a couple mil to follow him around 24/7 and punch him in the mouth every time he does something stupid.

Problem solved.

I'm kidding. I'd love to have the player in black and teal. But - I'm scared as hell of the likelihood of the off-field-guy doing something really stupid early in his career.

Really tough call for me. The Blackmon saga makes it even harder to call.

I have to say "pass."

Largely because 4 is too soon and 35 is where we should land a much needed guard. Mixon won't be there later.

Kiper (TIFWIW) was on Mike and Mike the other day and said some team is going to take him in the first or second round.

Good post. The guy is a wonderful talent, but I just couldn't justify it. And honestly, I think he better avoid every dogpile he can. If that dude fumbles, just walk away. They're gonna do unpleasant things to this kid for beating on that girl like that. It's not the biggest deal, but guys that are more than capable are going to be trying to hurt this guy.

Maybe. I'm a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance. Hopefully he gets drafted, plays great, and never has a major run in with the law like that again.

If he gets drafted by the jags I'll root for him as a player and as a person. If he gets drafted somewhere else I'll still root for him as a person.

But on the flip side of the coin look at what recently transpired with Mike Thomas. Everyone loved him when he was here. Our WR were so bad that he was vastly overrated, even by me. But he had no prior charges like what just happened. We all thought he was a good dude, liked having him on the team. People just make mistakes. Some worse than others.

Hitting that chick was pretty disgusting but alcohol can make people do disgusting things, as evidenced. It's going to be up to those guys to put themselves in better situations.
I don't understand when people say, "I will not let my actions in the past define me".

Uhm..... I am pretty sure your past actions are EXACTLY what defines someone...
