Decade and a half of searching for something.....how do we have threads even mentioning the possibly of getting rid of it?

No amount of hashtags or facepalms can equal this.
Quote:The funny thing is, I'll bet if you flipped the tables and asked Denver fans (who obviously desperately need a QB right now) if they would trade Von Miller for Bortles it would be nearly unanimously hell no.

That could easily be the case.   But the two teams have vastly different situations.   The Broncos are built to win now and the strength of the team is clearly on the Defensive side of the ball.   The Jaguars seem to be on the verge of playoff contention but the team's best days should be in the future.    With a heavy emphasis on the Offensive Skill positions.

In a way each team would be weakening itself greatly.

Denver with Bortles on offense would be great but what happens to the D without arguably the best player in football?

Our D would be stunning with miller but what happens to the offense without bortles?

Both sides are built for the superstar they already have.

That's basically the way I view the situations with both teams as well.

In the long run,  Blake Bortles should clearly have more value than Von Miller for any team,   as long as Bortles doesn't suffer a career altering injury.

In the present though,  the only way the Broncos have a realistic chance at winning another Super Bowl is with a lights out Defense being the foundation of the team.

Right now,  no player in the NFL means more to the Broncos than Von Miller.   At the same time,  I doubt Dave Caldwell would trade Blake Bortles straight up for any player in the NFL.

Funny thing is, if the QB's name was Bridgewater, the answer would be exactly the same.  Probably even more emphatic.

Yep.  When you've been searching for your franchise QB for 15 long years, you surely aren't going to give him up.

And when you're a Championship caliber team whose defense carried them (and want to continue to be a Championship team,) you don't jettison the heart of that defense when he's in his prime.
Maybe if we had more pieces on Defense.  I don't think Von Miller--as great as he is--makes this team a Super Bowl caliber team.

Not ours, but theirs certainly.  It's why they wouldn't just let him go.  He probably takes them from B+/A- to A+.

He'd take us from D to maybe C+.

Nah, it's simply because fans are going to fan.

Yep, I'm the troll. Good call.
Look a qb without great weapons can still be effective. Brady and manning have proven that.

A passrusher with out weapons not so much. Cause they can double or triple team him and von miller looks ordinary.

Besides prior to superbowl was no where near mention of von miller.

But brady and manning been in news for over 10 years.

So the qb wins everytime.

Lemme guess, I've got the spider chart or SPARQ rating to match.

I love me some Blake Bortles and believe he is going to be a great QB.  Von Miller on the other hand is a once in a generation player.  His combine numbers were freakish and he is even quicker now.  He pretty much took over the superbowl.  I understand this would leave glaring holes for each team but also fill needs as well.

People love to argue that every team needs a franchise QB but I disagree.  Defense wins Championships.  Grandpa Manning just won one riding the defense.

Why all the threads trying to trade away the Franchise young (23 years old) player on this team (fantasy)?

I mean Von Miller is rated higher in talent overall than Blake Bortles after this season, but finding a great QB is very hard to do...

so I'm probably one of the few to say this...

but no ... i wouldnt trade BB for anyone in the league.. (I'm a homer)..

I'm right there with you. All the other great QBs are either significantly older or on par/worse with Blake
Madden mentality overwhelms the board during the dead zone.

Quote:This is what I would trade Bortles for...and I'm being dead serious.

Belicek, Brady, Julio Jones, Von Miller, Watt, Pouncey, Dallas Cowboys OLine, Adrian Peterson, Keuchly, Earl Thomas, Patrick Peterson, and 3 first round picks.
Am I the only one who would actually make this trade?
Smh close this thread...
Yes because franchise qb's are a dime a dozen at the top of the draft and elite pass rushers are rare.

Yes because would be way over the salary cap.

I mean that's not really the point.

It's a hypothetical. And Hypothetically, if we could get 8 HOF players and a HOF coach for Bortles, I would do it.
