Do you think Miller will get as much as Bortles will get in their new contracts? More than likely not.

So a QB that has a total of 9 wins, is going to make more money than a 4x pro bowler that just won Super Bowl MVP.

Now tell me, which position do you think is more valuable?

Pound for pound, a good QB gets your team farther than any single good defensive player. Period.

So, if you would trade a franchise QB for ANY defensive player of any caliber...enjoy spending the next 3-6 years hoping you find a QB before your shiny new DE leaves his prime.

Talent level being equal, the QB will always have the greatest impact, nobody is debating that.  The point here, that most here are ignoring or failing to grasp,  is that  the talent level is not even.  Miller is arguably the best defensive player in the league.  Bortles is a good quarterback, but he's prone to mental mistakes.  At this point in his career, he's nowhere near as good at his position as Miller is at his.  To call him a "franchise" QB now is a little premature.
Quote:1) That's debatable.

2) It's a lot easier to replace a good, but not great, QB, than it is to replace the best defensive player in the game.

Did you even read what I said?
No, BB is the QOTF.
Just stop, Sneakers. Von Miller isn't the best in the league, he was on a D that was stacked at every level. Without Malik in the middle Von Miller is going to be middle of the pack next season while Bortles near the top.

A good QB trumps a superb DE. You don't really need to look any further than Houston to see this. Watt is also a generational talent but you simply can't carry a team with a single defensive position the way a QB can, of even above average talent.
Quote:Von Miller is something special.  There are plenty of examples of elite Defensive linemen playing well into their late 30's.

While Bortles has the potential to be the best QB this franchise has ever had, Von Miller is a once in a generation player.
Once in a generation?

He's not even the best defensive player in his draft class and Justin Houston can make a strong case that he isn't even the best from that draft at his own position.

This isn't Madden. The only response I can think of to this is the old dubya tee eff.

I would give our next 2 1st round picks for him.  Do you think Denver would take it?

Can we give Denver our last 10 1st round picks with the exception of Blake Bortles instead?
