Quote:Sooooo you don't believe the Jaguars have a chance to go to the Superbowl? Hmmm ..

With adding one player? No.

We aren't one player away even if that player was Tom Brady.  We would still need at least one starter quality lineman to keep him alive and healthy.

Tom Brady with the WR we have and a rookie Fournette.. And a talented D .. is almost a sure trip to the Superbowl,at the least a AFC Championship..

Truth is we need Bortles to do what Matt Ryan did last year, but their is a little faith that he will.. We just need a qb..

Adding Brady and a rookie RB isn't one player away.

Brady and a rookie RB are not going to get this team a Super Bowl.
Quote:Hey, as long as we're gonna shoot for the moon here, I wanna hear how many players away we are from winning TWO Superbowls.

Boom, minds blown.

48 x 3 minus blake's shoe size....carry the 2....to the third power...... looks like we would need 17.5.

Look at the team he led to the Superbowl last year.. Our Wr are better.. We would have a better Rb then Patriots and a better D in my opinion..

Since you doubt that we can win a Superbowl with Tom Brady, tell us what will it take for the jaguars to win the Superbowl.. Please i wanna know..

Matt Ryan had an mvp season. The Jags dont need that from Bortles to be successful, they need better than average qb play.

That's a great question?? Isn't that the goal?? To win Superbowls?? Or just settle for mediocrity and failure?

We need Bortles to have a MVP season as well..That is if we want to reach the Superbowl! The Superbowl is the goal right?Better then average qb play maybe gets us at 9-7 and the playoffs..

If 5 is the mvp next year then the answer to the question in to OP is "zero", we already had the players we needed.

That team was coached 10x better than this team has been.  These guys are young and talented but they have not been coached well.  Tom Brady is a perfect fit for that system and big Bill as the head coach.  Bring Bill with him and maybe we have a chance.

It will take better coaching, better RB play, better OL play, more consistent (tweaked system with Gus gone hopefully will help) defense and better special teams play.  This team was one of the worst in football and has been for years.  One player is not making the difference it would take to win a Super Bowl with this team.
Quote:So we basically need a bad [BAD WORD REMOVED] driver huh?? Do you believe Tom sees the same thing?

Give or take. I think he's still looking to see if the offense can lean on and rely on the running game consistently in 2017. And he's probably looking for that consistent monster off the edge. He's going to do everything he can I am sure of it.

The draft will ultimately be the most telling for what's to expect. But as he said. It's to win games. None of this "one day at a time" or "lets keep chopping wood" philosophical bull [BLEEP].

Win today. Not tomorrow. Not next year. But today.
The QB question is a good one.

I don't think an elite QB makes this a championship team because of the O-Line needing help and the pass rush being almost there, but not quite close enough.

I think a Cousins/Dalton/Palmer or even Tannehill level QB would have won 8 games with the Jags in 2016.
If it was aaron rodgers, yeah.

But otherwise no.
Yeah we need Tom Brady. I'd be willing to give up the entire drafts for the next 5 years
No, 2 players away.  The 2 players are J J Watt and Jim McMahon.

I'd take about 10 other QBs over Jim McMahon. But I get your point.
Quote:Buuwwwwwaaaaaaa...........................Buuuwwwaaaaa. 15 victories, 4 years. One player away? Thanks, I needed that.

I'm not remotely thinking the Jaguars will be able to compete for a Super Bowl Championship in the 2017 season.  But in terms of the stat you mentioned,  the SF 49ers also only won 15 games in their previous 4 seasons before going on to win the Super Bowl in the 1981 season.   Having Joe Montana helped a little.  LOL.

Joe Montana maybe help the little but Bill Walsh helped a lot so coaching matters in this case.
Quote:How close is this team from really being a championship team?

Is it as simple as replacing the QB?

Drafting a playmaker Rb?

Drafting a explosive DE?

Or is it just all of the above? Personally I believe if we can replace the QB, with someone who can manage the game, limit turnovers, and lead us to wins. That will make the jaguars a championship caliber team..Easier said then done, I know..

Or maybe it's coaching? Maybe we just need a competent staff to motivate and help players excel to they fullest abilities..

Either way,I know this team is real close.. And my excitement is gradually rising... (no homo) Can't wait to the draft!

This team is much more than one player off.  Yes Blake was a problem but it was far deeper than blake.

-The oline could not run block with Olsen.  Scheme or otherwise the numbers jumped tremendously under Olsen.

-Hurns fell off the map.  He was stinking before the injury.

-Robinson was not as good.  Many of the great catches he made in 2015 he dropped many of the same type in 2016.

-There was no talent at tight end.  Thomas hurt as usual and just third stringers at backup

-We have 2 backs on the roster than like to fumble the ball

-The defense just turned into a wet paper bag many times during the season.

-Despite the "top 10 Ranking" Jaguars were 25th in ppg allowed and 30th in turnovers created

Much more than one player.
