Quote:I hope and expect them to draft a guard in the second or third, but it doesn't necessarily "fix" the line. It's a good start though.
I'd also like to see a plan B quarterback selected in the third or fourth round. (Webb or Peterman)
I would feel like they are a lot closer to having the right talent in place to at least win a playoff game. Still lots of question marks in terms of trusting some young players to perform and a new coaching staff - but I'd feel pretty good about at least challenging to win the division if it went down like that.
Fair enough.. And I agree that line still needs work... Let's hope we can get a few steals after the draft as well.
Quote:Tell me then how many?
Our defense might be one player away, but we could use like a half dozen better starters on offense especially if you include Bortles.
Quote:Joe Montana maybe help the little but Bill Walsh helped a lot so coaching matters in this case.
The pair are easily in the top 5 all-time HC/QB combos.
1 player away?
Bortles not being the biggest reason for the Jags poor season?
ARob not making a circus catch every time Bortles has a bad pass?
Y'all are nuts.

Lol who is?

Anyone having these convos. That's who.
Jags can't even win the weakest division in football and yet they're 1 player away?
Bortles was the biggest reason the Jags were bad last year. Not the only reason but the biggest.
ARob was hung out to dry so often last year and he was never hit in stride.

No one stated they are 1 player away.. If you in fact read the topic title you will see the word "are" .. Meaning it was a question..
The roster looks good imo. An elite back is definitley needed. I think at this point, progress is more dependent on coaching and all the players grooving well together.
and of course blake bortles needs to play well. and the better the oline and rb play is, the better he'll be... so yeah. Boost that oline and rb up!

I think we are 5 or so really good to elite players away. An elite qb can mask everything but that is too easy. Not including QB, we need a monster OG, dual threat TE (catch and block well), 3 down 4+ ypc moderately physical RB that can take it to the house, elite every down pass rushing DE, and a true WR1. I think you could win a super bowl with these 5 positions having a top 20 talent in them. If we can get a consistent pass rush going all year this year we should he able to challenge for the afcs.
I'll debunk all these non qb things. Many times we have had the number one back and a top flight defense. And still was under 500.
But let's go back to 2007. Garrard gets beat by the pats. A great running game, defense, and game manager.
Now our receivers are much better this is true. And let's say we grab the majorities favorite Fournette.
To think we will get beyond the first round of the playoffs. With a guy inaccurate with poor decision making. Is laughable.
Who via stats loses more games with a great running game. Vs under 100 yards and airs it out.
This is not me talking crap it is real stats. Look it up. Says.
Bortles is not the answer.
To say a qb who has almost as bad of a record as Gus had. Only #becausejaguars
Than you live in a fantasy world. And hanging onto 30 TDs. And ignore high rate of Int's.
