Irvin brings a lot more to the defense than simply sacking the QB. Let's see...sign the Otto from the #1 D in the league for the last 3 years...

I'd be curious to see how he performs without the rest of the Seattle D around him. He's a good player for sure though. Would help our D without a doubt.

Would still want to sign another pass rusher like Vernon.

I was checking to see what Hawks fans were saying about him and I saw a lot of "well at least we will get a pick for him" then saw it mentioned here.

They are referring to compensatory picks the NFL awards teams the following year based on gains and losses in FA.

With the addition of Irvin, and another piece or 2, our defense has the potential to be just as good as Seattle's.
Idk if it will all come together, but there's a shot.

If Irvin wants to go to Atlanta, it's in his best interest to make it seem like Jacksonville is doing what it needs to do. That would drive up Atlanta's offer. I wouldn't get your hopes up. I also wouldn't worry about tampering based on what we've seen so far. Agents are always playing games with teams to get the price where they want it.

We won't have that.

Not with that attitude....

I disagree. Earl Thomas, probably the best safety in the NFL, yes. But he makes a lot of the other guys around him better, including Sherman.
We have guys on our defense right now with potential. Telvin is one of the best in the NFL at his position, there is no better OTTO out there than Irvin.
Say we do add jalen Ramsey or Myles Jack in the draft. Either of those guys have the potential to be at the upper echelon in the NFL at their position.
That doesn't include free agency or Fowler's potential at Leo.
The gap used to be huge, but looking at our team now with the potential we have, the margin is much smaller.

My god of course so but I doubt it. Especially for the fact that we don't have an Earl Thomas.

The same guy who said Jameis Winston was point shaving. Yeah, I'm sure he's in the know.

You're saying that since his sacks come from plays that are designed to produce sacks, they are irrelevant?
I'm going to cogitate on that for a while. That's a good one.

Quote:I remember when Andre Branch got like 6 sacks everyone was saying they were mostly on stunts and that it wasn't an indication of his true pass rushing ability. Not that the human windmill is comparable to Irvin in any way, its just funny how things change with the narrative around here.
Bruh. Andre branch was supposedly an edge rusher. Irvin is a linebacker. Not even close to the same thing.
