Caldwell:
"DB is deeper than DE in this draft."
Well that would seem to point to a pass rusher in the first round.
This fun lil' guy?:

What has he done during his time in the league that you would think he's a good guy? Fact is nobody knows.

Or this one?:

I'm not falling for this again. Ill believe it when i see it.

Oh boy. Lets start 2016 season off the right way. The curse of the first round picks continue.

I'd prefer we'd just move on from Gerhart and look elsewhere for a short yardage back, but I'm not going to sit and pout that he'll be allowed to compete for a spot in training camp. He's definitely underperformed compared to his salary, though he has had a variety of injuries the past couple seasons. Anyways, if push came to shove and we actually needed Gerhart's cap space, I'm sure Caldwell wouldn't hesitate to cut him.
Edit: Words

Exactly.

Caldwell also said staff is evaluating whether DE Chris Clemons has a role on the team going forward. Plan is to reach out to Clemons' representatives soon.
NFL 4m
This on the other hand is one cut that really needs to be made. Hopefully the plan for reaching out to Clemons is to give him his walking papers.

I'm sure whatever happens in FA in a couple weeks will play a role in Clemons future.

I'm thinking the same. Or maybe LB.

No doubt, it's just obvious that he doesn't really have anything left in the tank. Plus, he doesn't exactly seem like a guy you'd keep around at a reduced price to be a mentor.

If Bosa is there, you take him.

With this bit of cheer?:
Or this?:
Or this fun, sunshiny statement?:
Yea exactly. So???
I can't imagine a scenario where they keep Clemons. Why would they?

Who else would we give routine veteran's days off to? :teehee:

Thank heavens for Roy Miller. :woot:
Caldwell was on Jaguars live and basically confirmed Walter Football's report about Jags valuing pass rusher over DBs. then again it could just be another fake out like in '14.

Well it's also pretty logical that pass rushers would be more valuable then DBs.

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a GM/HC that would say otherwise.
But... walterfootball said it, so......
Sounds like Ramsey is out. I'm all for grabbing Gipson or Weddle and the drafting either the best DE or best LB. Do it Dave!

I think we need to exercise a little patience. Until we have 90 players under contract, there's no benefit to cutting anyone in particular.

I'm pretty sure they won't keep him. But all these calls to "cut him now!" are pointless until we have 90 players under contract and need the roster spot. The only reason to cut a guy now is so he can get a head start on finding another team. I don't think Clemons particularly deserves that.
The scoop: "We have eight draft picks and we'll devote a large portion of those to the defensive side of the ball. The first three years were focused on the offensive side of the ball and that side will continue to mature. And now it's really time to focus on the defense." --
Jaguars GM David Caldwel
Anyone who does a mock draft with offensive players in any of the first 3 to 4 rounds or one that drafts a kicker needs to quit. We are getting most likely 6 defensive players out of this draft.
