Quote:The scoop: "We have eight draft picks and we'll devote a large portion of those to the defensive side of the ball. The first three years were focused on the offensive side of the ball and that side will continue to mature. And now it's really time to focus on the defense." -- Jaguars GM David Caldwel

Anyone who does a mock draft with offensive players in any of the first 3 to 4 rounds or one that drafts a kicker needs to quit. We are getting most likely 6 defensive players out of this draft.
Whether by coincidence or well though out planning and projection, Dave has done a terrific job of lining up their needs with the strengths of the draft. The ONLY offensive player I could imagine them taking somewhat early would be guard in the 3rd, someone like Tretola. But, I still think that would be a long shot with the overall defensive strength of this draft and our obvious needs.
Quote:I'm pretty sure they won't keep him. But all these calls to "cut him now!" are pointless until we have 90 players under contract and need the roster spot. The only reason to cut a guy now is so he can get a head start on finding another team. I don't think Clemons particularly deserves that.
I think folks want him cut just to calm their feelings that we may roll with a 47 year old DE next year again. I can't see him sticking around another year.

I think if we can acquire a nice guard in free agency, we might be done on that side of the ball. At that point, the only way we would spend a draft pick on offense would be if we get so much value from the pick that we just can't pass it up.

I could see us picking up a G/C or a RB. But that's about it on offense.

Agree, but I actually wouldn't mind them picking up a guard in the 3rd though. That's been their sweet spot, money shot or calling card, however you want to phrase it.

If I have to see one more mock draft on this board where someone drafts a kicker.....

HAHAHA!!! The peeps love them some drafted kickers. Also, I'm really thinking Meyers will be much improved from last year.
