Quote:I don't know but Weddle is going to ring chase and Ramsey wouldn't play SS here.
I'd be cool with:
CB1: Sean Smith
CB2: Devon House
CB3: Aaron Colvin
SS: Jonathan Cyprien/James Sample
FS: Karl Joseph
Quote:Why wouldn't Ramsey play strong safety here? This isn't basketball, I highly doubt Weddle is giving up money to ring chase.
Who said that Jacksonville can't win a ring for Weddle? I feel like the core component of our team is already set; now we just need a pass rush and a pair of shut-down corners and we'll be ready.

Weddle himself said he will value winning over money this FA. I'm assuming he would rather go to a team that has a good chance to make the Super Bowl, not a young team that is going in the right direction.
I have some red flags regarding Weddle that makes me want to avoid him. He's old and has become injury prone, and lately has been referred to as a liability in coverage. I just don't think we need that here, and I realize he's a former pro bowler.
I'd love to get my hands on Josh Norman and Eric Berry, but chances are their teams franchise them. Berry and Ramsey would make for an awesome S duo. You could have both of them learn both FS and SS, and then exchange them to help keep defenses guessing. In the base I'd put Berry at SS and Ramsey and FS, but the two of them could make things interesting.
At CB I'm wondering about Prince.

I hear you man, but Berry and Norman are off the table.
Prince would be solid but I don't think he offers more than House and Colvin.
Ramsey at FS could change our whole secondary. Caldwell says finding a FS is like trying to find a QB.
I'm going to change it up a lil bit.
CB1: Sean Smith
CB2: Davon House
CB3: Aaron Colvin
SS: Eric Berry
FS: Jalen Ramsey
no way we're getting berry which is why i chose weddle.
My opinion:
Norman stays in Carolina and Berry stays in Kansas City
Johnson and Jenkins stay with the Rams, one possibly signed the other possibly tagged
Both San Diego and Oakland will be prioritizing FS as well as the Jags and their is certainly no guarantee Ramsey gets by San Diego or Dallas
I personally would take Nelson over Weddle. Both are older guys but I haven't seen any regression in Nelson's performance yet. Yeah, I'll settle for a pro bowl ball hawking FS for a couple of years.
Hopefully some of these opinions are wrong, especially about Johnson and Jenkins. However, if true, it could mean the Jags cannot do as well at adding talent to their secondary as we would all hope
I just don't think Nelson will come back here. We ran him outta town.

Honestly I wasn't a fan of the Jags when Nelson played with them. Has anything changed with the organization since he left?? I have heard that Del Rio wanted to make him a corner but Del Rio is no longer with the organization
I do know Nelson is a totally different player than when he was with the Jags

Last week in 1010xl, one of the hosts (I think it was Lageman) said they've heard rumors that he actually would want to come back. Apparently he is always liked Jax and still has his house here.
FS: Weddle
SS: Cyprien
CB1: House
CB2: VHIII
CB3: Colvin
I'd be fine with this
CB - Janoris Jenkins
CB - Jalen Ramsey
FS - Tashaun Gipson
Ss - Cyprien

And bench the guy who just broke the franchise record for PBUs in his first year starting.
Cool.
We could have 3 Dion Sanders and 2 RONNIE Lots and it would not matter.
We need pass rushers in FA and the Draft

If guys like Brady and Luck are getting rid of the ball in 2 seconds then we could have 7 Lawrence Taylors and it wouldn't matter. We need guys that can cover too.

Safety would still potentially be an issue with Weddle.
If he shows no sign of age and hasn't lost a step, then the secondary should be pretty good.
However, if Weddle has lost a step, there could be issues.
If we draft Ramsey to play SS, chances are we let Cyprien go. At that point, either we have Ramsey stay at SS and have a weakness at FS, or move him to FS and have either an inexperienced Sample at SS, or have Cyprien back at SS.
CB1 - House
CB2 - best FA they can get or 2nd/3rd round pick
Nickel - Colvin (unless he wins cb2 outright in camp vs a rookie)
SS - Cyprien or Sample
FS - iloka or Weddle
Not perfect to many here, but it's how I'd fix it while focusing on pass rush a bit more than the secondary.
My dream, and reasonably realistic, secondary:
CB1 - House
CB2 - Hayward (or Smith but I went Hayward cause he's 2 yrs younger, the Rams aren't getting away)
Nickel - Boykin (I think Dave will be happy to let Colvin play Nickel, which is ok but Boykin is better)
SS - Iloka (most underrated FA this year, but he's SS not FS)
FS - Ramsey

What? No Colvin at nickel? Boykin is overrated.
House, Heyward and Colvin would be really nice.

Yup, I would be cool with that CB group going into next year.
