Quote:What? No Colvin at nickel? Boykin is overrated.
House, Heyward and Colvin would be really nice.
I expect it will be Colvin at nickel, like I said, and that's fine Colvin will be good at nickel. I just think (and the numbers would agree) that Boykin is better. Sorry, but Boykin isn't overrated he's excelled for 3 years straight now.
It's like the Damon Harrison thread, he's a bit better than Miller, but not so much that you're going to be mad if we stick with Roy. If Colvin is our nickel going into next year that's all good, it could just be a bit better.
Is there a link to Ramsey's best plays at safety?
Quote:Safety would still potentially be an issue with Weddle.
If he shows no sign of age and hasn't lost a step, then the secondary should be pretty good.
However, if Weddle has lost a step, there could be issues.
If we draft Ramsey to play SS, chances are we let Cyprien go. At that point, either we have Ramsey stay at SS and have a weakness at FS, or move him to FS and have either an inexperienced Sample at SS, or have Cyprien back at SS.
Hence the danger of Free Agency. As you are aware, there are no "tryouts" for guys in Unrestricted Free Agency. Bradley himself stated that he had never even spoken to Julius Thomas prior to him signing papers, much less got a chance to run him through some agility drills. I worry about having Weddle on this roster. I worry about him to the point of even if you do sign him, go ahead and draft / sign his replacement to the roster as well.

Yeah, if you go the Weddle route, then I would for them to draft a guy to groom behind him (such as Kevin Byard).

That's how we end up with situations like Beadles and Gerhart, but this FA feels a little stronger (LET ME LIVE IN MY FANTASY) but it does.

Oh, I know what you mean and it's good to feel optimistic. I'm not trying to be jaded or anything, but it's a good idea to hedge your bets as much as you can.
Especially in Free Agency.

Nah, I agree. I know it's a risky endeavor. Look how many pieces we signed last year on defense and it got worse! There were #reasons, but still.

Nope.
Quote:Nope.
Still don't get the hype on this guy. Haven't seen one highlight that made me feel like wow this guy must be in teal.

I mean I see what you're saying. It's basically all about potential with Ramsey. I don't get wow moments from him also besides that Miami game last season.
Karl Joseph makes my jaw drop watching his highlights AND tape.

Karl Joseph...just watching his games...not even just highlights absolutely jaw dropping player. He tackles, hits hard, he has good speed and hands. He's a baller.
Karl Joseph ain't getting out of the first round.
There is no way he falls into the second round.

I could see a team trading up for him early in the second round before the Jaguars pick. I would move up from our spot to grab him using the scobee pick and maybe a future late pick if that's what it took. We need KJ.

He will be drafted in the first round.

Unless he isn't.
Y'all wanting to make House a number 1 corner is redic. He's a nickel corner. He needs to be on a slot guy like we saw in Green Bay.
He broke the pass break up record probably from the ungodly amount of targets his WRs received. I'm not saying he needs to be cut but there's nothing to suggest he's a shutdown number 1 worthy corner.
So, if we sign nobody and he sucks, we lose a lot of games.
We sign Jenkins, draft Ramsey and let them compete, that's how you get better as a team. Not by promoting a guy to incumbent starter because he had a team record in pass breakups. He may been part of team record pass TDs given up too.
You get better with talent. How you guys justify promoting House to elite status is beyond me. Go ahead and blame pass rush. Good corners make your pass rush a lot better too. It works hand in hand.
Joesph should be going round 1 but I think playing at WVU hurts his status. The big 12 torched WVU even when he was healthy. They'll label him a gambler coming off a big knee injury, who hasn't played football in over 2 years by the time preseason starts.
To me he's a better Earl Thomas. I'd be thrilled with him in round 2.

Woahhhh! I'm a huge KJ fan, but a better Earl Thomas is going over the top my man. I think ET is his ceiling, which would be incredible for us.

Hahaha credibility.... Lost.
Good day sir.
Quote:This line of thought is like taking the stickers off of a Rubik's cube and never actually solving it.
But it makes more sense than drafting a SS at 5 when you have much greater needs.
I dont get the comparison. I mean, when Dave said it, that was my immediate thought as well. Doesnt mean we have it all figured out. Just something to consider.
