glad to have Chenne Had

I'm hoping they didn't give him any, or at least much, guaranteed money as I can still see some other qb brought in flat beating him out in camp.

I doubt he'd sign a contract that didn't have a fair amount of guaranteed money.

Who do you see being brought in to beat out Henne?

I don't know... my grandma?

Henne was well-regarded going into FA, which is why he got that contract. I doubt he would've signed a deal like that without guaranteed money, and I suspect he got a deal that big because the Jags knew he'd be in demand if he hit FA.

I thought she's too busy handing 24-of-38 and Corey Grant their [BLEEP] to compete at QB.

I'm just trying to picture which other team out there that would have really been interested in signing Henne and how much they thought he might be worth.

I know he's considered a veteran QB, but I'm just trying to imagine which of the other teams out there realistically would have signed him.

I guess there's always the Browns.

The last time Henne saw the field he was so awful that the team went to a raw rookie with glaring mechanical problems who wasn't even prepped as a starter going into the season, and that rookie, in spite of having one of the worst performances for a starter that season, was still head and shoulders above Henne.

No, it's pure fiction that anyone in the league assigns any significance to Henne as a player at all. I'm not sure why Caldwell thinks he's so worth having around, but there isn't a team out there that would have given him more money than the Jaguars, and you can take that to the bank. If any teams truly had interest in the guy he would have just went into free agency and gotten that money. The Jaguars were bidding against themselves for him.

OFFICIAL: QB Chad Henne re-signs.

Agrees to deal, he should be acting like he won the lottery!

I don't understand why they didn't let him go, and sign an undrafted rookie QB for league minimum that shows potential?

I mean does anyone ever see Chad Henne being a viable starter in the NFL after all the tape they've seen on him over the years?

Henne was not resigned because of his ability to win multiple games for the team. Apparently he's a real asset to Bortles. Why can't people appreciate that? Record setting second year QB. I doubt a rookie offers assistance to Blake on the sidelines or in film study. Blake is now THE franchise. If this makes him happy I'm all for it. A lot of other issues to [BLEEP] about more than the backup QB.
They including Blake Bortles refer to Chad Henne as Grandpa.

I really don't see Chad Henne as a mentor to Blake, and besides does Blake really need anyone else in his ear with all his assistants trying to improve his game?

The other thing they say is well Chad knows the playbook & is tough.  I am pretty sure tons of tough QBs that can learn that playbook so that argument doesnt really justify the resign every couple of years..

At the end of the day (i hate that saying but thought it would be funny to insert here)

its not our money so congrats to Chad!

Except for the nagging little detail where Blake basically stated that Henne was his mentor.

<p style="margin-left:40px;">"...Though Henne’s contract with the Jaguars is up, Bortles said Henne has been a major influence and that he hopes the veteran remains with the organization. 'He has become a really good friend,' Bortles said. 'He’s really been good for me on the field and off the field. I’ve learned a ton from him as both a football player and as a man. I’ve cherished the relationship that we’ve had and the things we’ve done. That’s obviously up to Gus and Dave and everybody, but I’d love to have him back for sure

I'm really mad!

You know, there is a line of thought out there that states you are the one person responsible for your happiness. It goes on to say that you shouldn't depend on other people or outside events to manipulate your moods and that you can find the strength within to control your own emotions.

I mean, it sounds pretty crazy to me but there are people who believe this hogwash.

That makes me mad, too.

I can't wait until free agency and the draft so I have something new to get mad about.

When the most important player on a team believes another player has major value and you have the salary cap space to keep that player in a way that it won't prevent the team from upgrading the roster present and future,   I don't see the downside of keeping him at least one more year.
It gets me how so many people think that Chad Henne is that bad.  We never saw him perform behind a decent line and with a good supporting cast of players.  We saw him at QB after the roster was gutted and we had mostly rookies on the offense.  No decent line, an "average at best" running back and no "star" wide receivers.

The other thing to keep in mind is the fact that he is a BACKUP QB.  He only plays if Blake Bortles is out with an injury.

Name one other VETERAN QB with his experience that is available via FA.
