DE Olivier Vernon - most disruptive edge rusher in the last 6 games of last season, nuff said. Just 25 years old. Pay him

DE Mario Williams - consistent and available, would be great consolation prize if they can't land Vernon

FS Eric Weddle - best FS available

FS Eric Berry - second best FS

DB Trumaine Johnson - future #2 CB for the Jags. Colvin will be a great nickleback

C Alex Mack - upgrade the weakest position on the line and say goodbye to Wiz

...

Wilkerson would be a great addition but it sounds like he might get the franchise tag in NY.

...

Really want/need one of those DEs and one of those FSs. I expect we could get the others as well considering all the cap room. This allows us to take BAP at the draft be it Ramsey, Bosa or Jack.
My realistic wish list is:

1) FS - Tashaun Gipson

2) DE - Oliver Vernon

3) C - Alex Mack

I think we could get these 3. Now if that happens is a different story; but i think it's a realistic scenerio. I wouldn't mind going after Bruce Irvin if he hits the market. But I think Atlanta would have him.

Pass on Weddle; Berry ain't leaving KC; Wilkerson ain't leaving NYJ; Mario's is worth going after if Vernon fails.

GO JAGS!!

I think David will surprise some people. I think Vernon is def going to happen. Mack I expect is likely. We could get Trumaine fairly easy too.

Why don't you like Weddle? He represents a major upgrade at a position of urgent need.
Offense: Osemele, one of the best LG in the running game. Entering his prime, although there's the possibility the Ravens will franchise tag him . Cann would be moving to center.

Defense:

1-2 pass rushers among the pass rushers group. Priorities to Vernon, M. Williams and M. Jackson.

Weddle: stop gap safety (Berry will be staying in KC) and I'd draft Joseph in the second to grow beside him together with Sample. Would be ok with Nelson as well eventually.

1 CB among the T. Johnson, J. Jenkins, Sean Smith, Boykin and other group. There's depth at CB, hopefully we find another player like D. House.

And a linebacker, keeping in mind that if we get 2 pass rusher in FA I would take M. Jack at 5 in the draft.
I just don't see the hype/intrigue in him (that's just me though). He's on the downslope of age for that position and I think others fit our scheme better. I don't think he should be a first option in FA.

Agree with all of this

Exactly. Gipson is nice but Weddle is a multi all pro with his most recent being two years ago. I think the chargers situation and injuries really had more to do with his drop in production last year than deteriorating skills. If he can be had at 7-8 mil a year that would be a bargan.
I'm going to limit my wish list to 3 players since it's not realistic that they can sign more than 3 of the top players that will be available. Also, Eric Berry and Josh Norman are not on this list since they'll be returning to the Chiefs and Panthers.

1. Trumaine Johnson/Janorris Jenkins-  Would love either of these guys. Hopefully the Rams will only re-sign one of them. Cornerback position would be set and Colvin moved to nickel.

2. Tashon Gipson- This is assuming the Jags get the Gipson from 2 years ago. He is still young and by locking him up, the Jaguars could then pass on Ramsay and hopefully

get Bosa or Jack in the first round. Weddle would be o.k., but I'd prefer the younger guy.

3. Malik Jackson-  Although Vernon fills a greater need, I am afraid Vernon just stepped it up to get a big contract and he will disappoint the team that picks him. Jackson is not

only a great run stopper, but got 5.5 sacks last year. His best play is ahead of him.

As indicated above, this free agent class would enable them to take either Bosa or Jack with their first pick. I have a feeling that Bosa will end up a Jaguar so he and Fowler

would be the new LEO's. They would still like to upgrade the OTTO position and there should be a strong candidate in the 2nd or 3rd round. If not, Skuta wasn't bad and he could get better after one year in the system.

Regarding Irvin he should cash in pretty decently given the contract given to Vinny Curry, especially if it comes down to a bidding war with ATL, Oakland, etc.
I don't think we should be tempering our expectations. I don't think this is the offseason that we need to be 'realistic.'

If Weddle, Vernon and Mack are entertaining offers, I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't land all three. Absolutely no excuse not to make it happen.
oface5446 (sorry can't quote for whatever reason on work computer...); I would agree that we should expect them to be extremely agressive, but we can't make the FA's come here. Even though we have tons of cap space and a great environment, we also have a recent horrendous team record and very little national spotlight. The players will make the decision in the end, we can only hope they choose us. So I disagree that we should expect all of these signings. That's not realistic.

I agree that we can't force them to come.

Vernon would get to stay in FL. Odrick certainly likes Jville.

Mack recently said he likes the culture here.

Weddle wants a change of scenery but I do think he would be the most reluctant to sign. That being said, he is open to signing here: from the horse's mouth <a class="bbc_url" href='http://nfltraderumors.co/options-for-chargers-s-eric-weddle/'>http://nfltraderumors.co/options-for-chargers-s-eric-weddle/</a>
No order:

- Vernon

- Osemele in FA or Tretola in the draft (Cann to C)

- Trevathan

- Johnson or Jenkins

- Nelson over Weddle because he is more of a ball hawk

Positions addressed: DE, G/C, CB, LB and FS

Draft...BDPA
Mario Williams

Trumaine Johnson

Eric Weddle
Trumaine Johnson

Eric Weddle

Malik Jackson

Kelechi Osemele

Danny Trevethan

In that order.

I recommend actually sitting down and watching Alex Mack from this past season. It was not very encouraging.
Assuming Vernon makes it and trying to be realistic:

-Olivier Vernon

-Trumaine Johnson

-Depth

Draft Ramsey and Kentrell Brothers.

At all. Cleveland fans want him to go
Trumaine Johnson

Danny Trevathan

A backup running back

A depth defensive end
