Has us taking Ramsey in the 1st.  Some really good players still left on the board for our 2nd and 3rd picks.  Scooby Wright, Mackensie Alexander, Karl Joseph, Ogbah, Floyd, and Brothers to name a few

Jalen Ramsey is a consensus pick for us ATM. I have only seen one mock that has us picking someone else.

If Alexander drops to the 2nd round you pull the trigger IMMEDIATELY.

If Alexander drops to the second round everybody will be shocked except the team that picks him. He is expected to be picked by a losing team in the first round ATM.

The way teams have been able to throw on Gus Bradley's defense for three years is why many figure Jalen Ramsey will be the Jaguars pick, especially with the HC blaming his DC Babich more than his scheme & the lack of having a true 2 cover FS that Jalen could be or the shutdown corner that Sherman was for him in Seattle.

The lack of pass rush is also a concern and while people hope that Fowler Jr will come in (essentially his rookie year due to his ACL injury) and be that pass rush one isnt certain he'll be the same after injury.

GM Caldwell hinted to a FS/CB or Pass Rusher which ever appears to be higher on their boards and available at pick 5.

What I don't understand is why aren't people mocking a pass rusher to us when Dave Caldwell made it clear he wants one at #5? Yes, Jalen Ramsey fills a need, but everyone knows our biggest draft need is on the defensive line. You would think there were more mocks with us picking Joey Bosa, whose job would make any defensive back much better.

People who think Dante Fowler will play up to his potential despite tearing his ACL must be thinking about Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Adrian Peterson, and many other players who suffered the same injury.

Sorry, I don't speak or understand "Durrr"..

Also if Alexander falls to the 2nd then that means no one drafted him in the 1st.

Or Von Miller.....

No one is saying Fowler is going to fix the pass rush alone.

People are expecting the Jags to sign a lot of defensives FA's including some pass rushers. That leaves us with some flexibility when we pick. Ramsey is a consensus top 5 pick. He also fills a huge need for this team in that he can play every position in the secondary.
The Ramsey pick makes sense to me.

We have a decent chance of getting a good-quality DE or DT in the second round, but the top-quality DBs appear to be thinner on the ground in this draft.

At least that's the way it appears at the moment.

I agree with this.

If he is somehow still on the board for us in the second round, absent any major injury issues or character red flags that warrant that drop, it would be hard to justify passing him up.

Injuries would not be a good reason to pass on him if he had one. I would only worry about character red flags.
If McShay's mock is accurate and 2 quarterbacks are taken in the top 4, the Jaguars will be sitting in a fantastic position. They can take whoever is available between Ramsay, Bosa and Jack (all would be great picks, in my opinion) or make an offer to a couple of teams needing a quarterback- S.F. and the Rams. The Rams would love a new q.b. for their move to L.A. and may be willing to give up the ranch if they "fall in love" with Lynch. I would think the Jaguars could ask for the Rams' 2nd rounder plus a 1st and 3rd next year. I know the Jaguars need to win next year, but I would love this trade. The Jags still can choose between Jaylon Smith and Noah Spence based on McShay's mock. Both of these guys have elite talent and would be top 5 picks if not for the obvious reasons.

Round 1- Jaylon Smith

Round 2- Fuller and Darian Thompson

Free agents- Malik Jackson, Vernon and Mack

Add in an extra 1st rounder in 2017.

No, he didn't.  He has indicated he wants pass rushers in the offseason and likely the draft, but he hasn't made it "clear" that he wants one at pick 5.

Still, NFL analysts should know even if we pick a pass rusher in free agency it would make sense to draft one at 5.

So, if the Jags pick up someone in free agency like Olivier Vernon in free agency.  And then, using McShay's latest mock...

Use the first pick to select FS/CB Jalen and the second pick to select DE/OLB Leonard Floyd, you feel that the pass rush has not been addressed because a rusher was not chosen first?  I respectfully would disagree, as I am sure some good NFL analysts would also.

I never said that.
