I'll admit, I was very surprised by his weigh in (along with pretty much everybody), but now I'll be real curious to see him weigh in at his pro day as well. I want to see if he can maintain that weight/slightly add too it by his pro day.

 

Question is, will he be another Mingo/Jordan?

I think he is the best speed rusher in the draft but 5 is extremely high for him if you look at his film. I was actually expecting to run 4.5.

I would be very upset if we took him #5. He looks like a pure 3-4 rush OLB. I still believe he'll be eaten up in the run game.

As of right now he's more of a DPR at this point. I don't see him going top 5 or 10 for that matter. He's intriguing for sure but his game isn't there yet to invest that kind of capital in him yet.

Agreed.

 

At our 2nd round pick, I'd have no problem grabbing him. Any time before that, I wouldn't take him though. It would mean we'd have to trade back up into the 1st round and we can't afford to be giving picks away at this point.

So there's a current rumor courtesy of Mel Kiper floating around that says his sources has Leonard Floyd going to the Jags at 5.....

The thing is I don't believe for a second that Kiper has a source that would have a clue to who the Jags were taking at 5.

Jalen Ramsey at 5 and trade up into the 20s for Floyd.

Floyd always made sense to me. He's a reach at 5 though. I would trade back a few spots. The jags desparately need pass rush

Well Dave did say that they have guys in the top ten that ESPN and the media don't have...

He will be picked in the 20's.

Can't really see it being the pick at all. I'm confident that other guys are those Caldwell have in mind.

It would seem to be a bit of a reach obviously (I do believe he could go 9 or 10 legitimately), but if you're going to reach then reach for a huge need and a guy with sky high upside at least?

 

It would be no bigger of a reach than VH3 and he's pretty darn close to Lawson even. I wouldn't love it but wouldn't hate it. 

I wouldn't like it for the fact that you could get a very similar (possibly better) player in McAlister on the 3rd/4th range.

I heard Kiper this morning on his weekly Sirius show and he indicated the Dolphins really want E. Elliot. If the Cowboys pass on him at 4, they may try to trade up with Jax to get him. If they get offered enough like an extra 2nd this year plus either an extra 3rd this year or an extra 2nd rounder next year, I could see Caldwell taking this and then taking either Shaq Lawson, Floyd or Hargreaves with the Dolphins 1st round pick (mid-teens). This would enable them to address all positions of major need in the top 3 rounds (pass rusher, linebacker and interior O. Line). If this opportunity is available, would it be worth passing on Jack, Ramsay, Bosa, Buckner and Tunsil since at least 3 of these guys would be there at 5 and the only one who might be there when the Jags pick is Jack if everyone gets scared away by his injury.

 

In my opinion, this would really be a tough choice, but if they love Lawson, Floyd and Hargreaves I would do it. If the first 3 rounds looked like this:

 

1. Lawson

2. Whitehair/Kelly and Burns/Alexander/Apple/Fuller

3. Correa/J. Jenkins

 

They have addressed LEO, OTTO, cornerback and O. Line with quality at each position and they get an extra 2nd next year as a bonus. I would especially hate to pass on Ramsay, but I believe it would be worth it. Do you agree?
