I can't quite agree in Cyprien, but he's entering a similar situation to Bradley's.
Prove it or lose it.
Sample will get looks.
Smith actually did get a decent number of snaps at one point (for two games mid season iirc) and was just as ineffective as Branch / Clemons.
But he's young and will get another chance.
Quote:Joekel is on the right track. He's the starting LT. Hit.
Cyprien will be much approved in his 4th yr. Hit
The rest are all on the team besides Sanders who looked good but had some personal demons.
And I think Caldwell has learned his lesson regarding Drob.
Gratz is the only true dissapointment.
Jeremy Harris is not on the team.
And why do you think Cyprien will be better in his 4th year?
Joeckel is far from a hit. Where he was drafted he should be in a pro bowl.
There's not one, a single one, who is a standout player.

They've already talked alot about how the modern left tackle is nothing like they used to be in the past due to not having learned the proper fundamentals and technical savvy of the past. How the college style is ruining it for them. But to say Joekel is bad is a bit overboard. We grew up and were entertained by a HOF left tackle that has pretty much put the bar at an extremely high level.
Joekel is one of the better modern day tackles and if you take away the last game, he only allowed 2 sacks all year. That's pretty impressive given his rough start. I just hope he works on getting stronger this year and continue to grow more sound technically and he will hold that spot down for another 10 years. But it's up to him.
The Kicker is dead weight...he won't get better. Shad needs to show him how to really swing a boot.

Curious why you bother to "take away the last game" in your defense. He played did he not? It counts does it not? He was abused all day. Additionally, he sat out 2 games of the season.
Perhaps the left tackle is not developed in college as it once was, so be it. It does not negate the fact all the other left tackles in the league came out of the same college ranks. It's also true that left tackle is a pro bowl position and Joeckel is not amongst them. There are left tackles voted to the pro bowl, but he aint there. So being drafted 2nd overall he should be amongst them.

Why are you taking out his last/worst game?
Name one team that would want LJ as their future left tackle.

If you find a better LT then cut him, but until then, what is the point in cutting a starting player?
Quote:Common sense tells me my logic is right! Am I the only one reading what I typed? Lol. Trying to be smart obviously evades you, for me it's a way of life. As of right now, none due to the fact there's no point in cutting anyone till camp. Did this make sense to you? Or how about you tell me how much less you could care?
Just because its not training camp now, doesnt mean their cant be discussions about who needs to be cut... Just like the draft, its obvious its not here yet, but that doesnt kerp us from talking about who we should draft and having mock drafts...
People like you try to find something wrong in every statement, instead of just responding with your opinion on a statement... I guess you think it makes you look smart, but really it shows your inability to respond to a subject..
Quote:If you find a better LT then cut him, but until then, what is the point in cutting a starting player?
Um because he sucks? Because he gave up a lot of sacks his last game/ career?
Still waiting on another team that would take him as a starting LT btw
I don't think anyone is saying cut Joeckel at this point. The question was who is dead weight. Oface said Joeckel was a "hit."
Most will agree he's not a "hit" but an average player who can be replaced with a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

See people like you want to trade and cut everyone without finding some sort of replacement! Again logic and common sense comes into play here. You catching my point? Oh wait, of course you're not. I'll just wait for something else to come out of your fingers that sounds "logical" to you.
How have I not responded to your lame attempts at trying to sound smart? Once you find yourself in a hole, put down the shovel.

If statistically at my job, I have 15 good days and 1 bad day, it happens. If I'm to evaluate an employee, I will say, overall his body of work is solid. He's not elite, but he's worth the money and to maintain the position. Football is to be viewed in the same regard.
If a player's overall body of work is good, he does his job and prevents sacks, which he only allowed 2 all year, then had 1 bad game where he let 4 happen or whatever it was. [BLEEP] happens. He's human just like anyone else.

Ok. I suppose you would accept the same bad day for a surgeon operating on your child.

Again, you're throwing out the final game and he missed 2 games due to injury. So in that respect he only worked 13 games. But, nonetheless, his final game is also part of his body of work. You can't ignore it. It reminds me of people who play roulette and play their system of double here, corner here, play evens, etc where they think they can't lose because of every outcome of the spin is in some way a payout guaranteed to be break even. When I say what about the greens, zero and double zero, in which the house takes everything. They say well they don't count those. Well you can't ignore them, just like you can't ignore his final game, because its a real outcome.
If you were the GM and Joeckel is coming out in the draft this year where would you realistically draft him?

Still waiting on another team that would take him as a starting LT btw
You don't find starting calibre LT on the street so where are you getting one? We have much bigger needs this season.
Quote:You don't find starting calibre LT on the street so where are you getting one? We have much bigger needs this season.
We have much bigger needs than LT? Are you serious?
You do know he protects our star QB right?
Quote:Cuts...
- Clemons (replaced by Fowler)
- Gerhart (not replaced with a RB)
- Evans (replaced with FA safety)
- Gratz (replaced with FA corner)
- Beadles (replaced with FA guard)
Leaves via FA...
- Branch (replaced with FA defensive end)
- Pierce
- Maybe Anger (replaced with low draft pick)
- Maybe Lewis (replaced by Jacobs)
- Young (replaced with mid round draft pick or by Wells)
- Wiz (replaced by Cann who will be replaced by Linder)
I agree we should not cut a player or allow them to leave via FA w/o finding a way of replacing them
I have 3 defensive FA's (CB, FS, DE)
1 offensive FA (G)
Fowler and Linder will be returning from injury
Cann moving to center
...and of course the draft (8) picks

They have bad days too. That's why people die.
If you go back and listen to all the evaluations, he was ranked highly. Again there seem to be no good LTs anymore so if you gotta get one, go get em.
Quote:You do know he protects our star QB right?
Exactly, so unless you replace him with someone better, you don't cut him.
Would you draft a LT in the first round this year? What about the second? After that, you are not finding anyone to replace him with.
I'm happy to replace him if there is someone better, but I'm not cutting an average NFL starting LT just for the sake of it.
