Looks like he's gonna get released soon. What do you think about taking a chance on him ?

A chance on what? A 31 year old career backup that will be released in favor of Nick Foles.

Yes. I believe he is one of the better backups in the NFL. He could at least push Bortles and most certainly would beat out Henne for the backup job.

He's going to be 31 later this year and has 1 career touchdown pass.

It's painfully obvious that there are a lot of people who post here that really want our team to win.

It's really quite entertaining for me.

Some people make great analysis and cause me to wonder why they themselves aren't employees of an NFL team.

And some are quite the opposite.

The best part though. ..is that this team has us all dying for success lol.

It's been a long hard road here...since I'd the late 90s ? Since we've been really good...

And I believe we're close and next year should be a lot more fun for us fans

He's never been given a chance. Besides, I'm certainly not saying he's a long term answer, by any means. I'm simply saying he's 10x better than Chad Henne. We know Henne certainly isn't gonna push Bortles. He's been here forever and he's never come close. He's a terrible backup as well. Why not sign Daniel? He's a definite upgrade over Henne and would give me much more confidence in the QB position for 2017. There's not much left out there and this QB draft class is garbage. With Foles gone and Cutler looking for another starting gig, I don't see any other options. I really don't wanna go into the season with Bortles as a big "?" and Henne as our top backup. That's like having no backup plan at all.

Since he's been in the league after going undrafted in 2009, I'd say there was probably a good reason for why he hasn't been given much of a chance..

I'm asking. Right now, Henne is our backup plan for 2017. He's supposed to be the one to push Bortles and be our main option if Bortles goes down. I'm simply asking if you believe Henne is better suited for this role than Daniels is?

For some reason, this reminds me of all the backup QB's that have looked like Montana against us.  Colt McCoy.  Charlie Whitehurst. Curtis Painter. Tyrod Taylor.  Ryan Mallet.(Preseason) T.J. Yates. Chris Redman.  Tom Savage. I wanna say Kirk Cousins when RG3 went down.  It's been alot. I could be off on Redman and I know I'm missing a few but we sure make made em look good.

I literally know very little of Chase Daniel, so I could not answer that question.

 

I'd rather have Brandon Allen put in if Blake goes down, I know that much.. my point was just that I know he hasn't had much of a chance in his 8 years in this league, and there has to be a reason for that..

I'm not willing to sign him to a long term deal worth $150m but I'd possibly throw ~ $35m his way on a 2-year deal ($20m guaranteed)

 

There's going to be a market for him once GMs google his name and realize he has a 81.1 career QBR.

A lot of teams were hesitant about Daniel because of his height 5'11" but he has a strong arm and has put on some real performances in the preseason. I've kinda followed him since his days at Missouri. I'm not saying we should break the bank for him, but I believe he is a much better short term backup plan than what we have now, by a very wide margin. I don't believe the coaching staff has any confidence in Allen or else he would've at least jumped Henne on the depth chart. That wouldn't be a hard thing to do.
