Quote:But everyone was freaking out about him staying and Gus not changing anything! People need to take a deep breath and relax. No way was Babich keeping his job after such a disastrous display defensively.
Don't question the logic here.  If you're not demanding instant gratification, you're a blind homer.
Quote:The odds are way against it, but he will get the opportunity to do just that.

I don't expect the odds against to be that great once we feast our eyes on next year's defensive roster.
Quote:Step 1 to a good off season.... Complete.

No, that would of been Gus fired.

Go on BCC, its the pitchfork mentality and everything is Gus Bradley's fault. These same people were the biggest pro gus fanboys last year, mentality switched because the team did not live up to what they thought they were going to do.

The Jags had a massive overhaul, more than most teams. Its not that out of the realm that its taking longer than what a quick fix would take. Alfie thinks the rebuild is so black and white. A, to B, to C. Sometimes it takes longer, sometimes its a easier transition. Sometimes theres a step D, and to your point about the fans, they want everything, and they want it now! I trust Khan, a savvy businessman to make the best decisions for his team the people working within the organization. The decision to keep Bradley probably did not come from Khan himself, guarantee Dave and others were right there defending Gus and the bad W to L record.

No surprise changes happened defensively, defense can be looked at as one of the sole reasons why we did not win the division. Makes sense to part ways with the Defensive Coordinator.
We all know Todd Wash is going to be promoted unfortunately.
Quote:Why do you guys want Walker to be fired?
Walker if the reason we got Devon House who is are best DB, its not his fault that we have awful pass rush
Yeah I agree Pass Rush is horrible but i feel the secondary is better then what Dewayne has gotten from them. I also

look at Dewayne Walker resume. He was awful as New Mexico State HC and no legit NFL coaching experience.
I think most people pretty much expected Babich to be the fall guy.  The thing here is that no matter who Gus hires, that person will be panned widely by the experts on the board.  But, what we've seen from Gus with the 2nd wave of coaches that he's hired is that they've actually turned out to be good selections.  The development we have seen this year related to Bortles in particular is a testimony of how much the changes to the offensive staff have helped this team develop.  It's still not quite where it needs to be, but the arrow is pointing upward.  If he can get a defensive coordinator who can provide similar improvement, the team will be much more competitive next year assuming the talent acquisitions continue.

Quote:Fall guy
People said that about Fisch but we upgraded him big time (despite the whiners at the time saying Olson sucks)

Mentality switched as soon as Alf or whatever his name is decided "I'm off the Gus Bus" and made post about it. They all blindly follow him (because if you don't he'll get real mad).

I think Schwartz as DC would be applauded by most on the board and he seems to make the most sense if Gus himself doesn't take the reins.

Ryan O Halloran suspects Gus's mentor Montee Kiffin could be brought in in some capacity as well, to try and get the ship righted.

I wouldn't complain.

Was thinking he would be mentioned due to the Bucs connection, pretty old at 75 though.
Well I'd dig Montee Kiffin. Buuuuuut, the 2nd best alternative is Gus calling the plays. I want Gus and Dave to successed very badly, but they(especially Gus) will have to prove it. Gus should own up to his defensive philosophy and show that he is a great defensive mind. No more scapegoats for bad play, let Gus prove his worth.
Only reasonable outcome is Todd Wash promotion with Gus being heavily involved, likely calling the plays for atleast a year.  Kiffin being brought in is intriguing, even if it is in a consultant type position.

Quote:I get so annoyed at "Clock Management" issues. Most of it can be prepared. Spend the off-season going through simulations of every NFL clock management situation over the past 3 years in the offseason, and then figure out a plan for what will you do in that situations, and then write that down. There clock management done. Then trust your plan and just implement the one that is needed. (Blake needs to do this too.)

Ya, that, or just hire an extra coach to focus on clock management while head coach actually focuses on More important matters.
Regardless of who takes the DC position, does any coach couch here think he will turn everything around with the current roster ?

If you answer no, the team needs more players, then you can also say it's not all Babichs' fault.

He indeed is the fall guy. But I'm not heartbroken.

Imo...if Gus wants to prove himself, he should take it over.

Snag a couple FAs. Hope they draft well, and maybe, just maybe..the D can rebound like the offense did this year.

IMO if Gus had a solution he would have already implemented it.  At this point, I'm hoping he hires a great DC because we need one.

Then, leave coordinators running the team and Caldwell bringing in talent and there just might be a chance.

If Gus is so good then why has he waited until year 4 to fix the defense?

Montee would be jus what the Jags are looking for, a stop gap. Someone with a lot of knowledge and experience who can get the thing back on track. We dont need some up and coming DC or someone not familiar with Gus to come in here and try to implement his scheme and possibly create turmoil. It needs to be Gus's defense. This is his year, he's got to right it, bringing in someone familiar to him and him being more involved with defense is what is needed.

Gus could be the DC with Montee in an consulting/advising role, works with him and the defense.
