Quote:Not even, he followed her into that business. He could have done a million different things, but he followed her in and kept it going and it lead to a very poor choice. If we draft him, the front office must feel confident that he has learned his lesson.
Yeah, that too. Several times he had the chance to back out.
Quote:And if u gonna bring up stuff when he 16 or 17 and tell me this is who is and who he always will be .. I'll tell you you are wrong everytime.. People grow up and see what's valuable to them in life.. And I'm sure once he gets them millions he will know if he don't already.
The Robbery and weapons charges are 3 years old (that's not a long time imo) but the animal abuse and criminal mischief charges are only a year and half old, that's not very long at all.
What has he done in the last 18 months to make you think that he has changed? Jimbo probably sat em down and told him that he is ruining is draft stock by being a total idiot, but once he is drafted and paid, then what?
What about this entourage of his? The scouts have noticed.
Has already has multiple children with multiple women and what looks to have a drinking problem to boot.
3 shoulder surgeries already on the books for him too. If Fournette has medical issues, they so does Cook.
I don't think Pacman Jones has changed at all since he was that age. Even into his 30s, he's still a thug, constantly in trouble for something or another.

Not that I disagree with your analysis, but what do you think of Garrett Bolles?
Quote:Not that I disagree with your analysis, but what do you think of Garrett Bolles?
His trouble was about 6 years ago from what I can tell. He has actually done things since then that show he isn't the person he was in 2011.
It's not that I don't think people can grow out of things or change, it's that I think it takes time, and when people change, there are tangible fruits to that change. If you say to me someone with a long rap sheet hasn't been arrested in just a year and half and there isn't anything else major showing that he turned over a new leaf... I'm just not totally sold on the change. Garrett Bolles has 6 years of showing change and tangible things in his life to prove that he has. If he got arrested at a bar sometime soon, I would probably be very shocked. If Dalvin Cook got arrested for something tomorrow, I would be like, yup, figures. It isn't even a race thing either, it's whether you earnestly believe that the person has changed.

His personal life, and past altercations will not define him as a football player.. When you look at what he does on the field you see something special.. I respect your opinion of Cook, because everybody see people differently.. But everybody makes mistakes and do dumb things..It's all apart of maturing and growing up!

You're talking to people who have only walked a straight path throughout life.

Pretty much. I've never been arrested or questioned by police. It's not hard to do. Almost everyone I know has never been arrested. I only know a few people with criminal records and they were mostly drunk and disorderly's. Keeping out of trouble is not some kind of accomplishment. It's nothing to brag about either. It's just something most people do.

When you're constantly in the news for some criminal matter, it looks bad for your team and is a total distraction. Even worse, when you are being suspended from the league, that hurts your team too. Past performance is the best indicator of future results, we can wish upon a wishing star that he becomes something different as a pro, but his history points to very troubled person. \
As a player, he's very good, fumbles way too much but he's good. I don't see him as a once in 5 years kind of talent or a can't miss prospect though. Straight up, if he can't find a way to hold onto the ball, whoever drafts him will end up benching him. You lose games that way.
Quote:You're talking to people who have only walked a straight path throughout life.
I'd be the first to say, I haven't walked a straight path through life. I'm lucky I never got caught for anything.
But I would also say, no one gave me 20 million dollars when I was 21 years old, either. I'd probably be dead right now.
And that's the thing. People who see the risk in Dalvin Cook aren't saying they are perfect people. A lot of them would say, if Dalvin Cook is as imperfect as I am, then there's no way I would hand him millions of dollars and expect him to be able to handle it. You have to look at these prospects and say, if I hand him a huge sum of money, what will I get in return?

Well if I didn't know any better, I'd say I was talking to Jesus himself right now.

You don't have to be Jesus to not be arrested. I don't think I know anyone in real life who has been arrested.

I disagree with this wholeheartedly. While I was in the Service, it was difficult to find someone who had
not been arrested, some even beyond Drunk and Disorderly. I worked in Nuclear Power for decades and it still amazes me that they allowed the majority of those people in the gates. Perhaps you're living right or just plain lucky, but I would think that your perception would change if your environment did.
And who blocks for him rookies or journey men?
Quote:Well if I didn't know any better, I'd say I was talking to Jesus himself right now.
I'm far, far from it. I never claimed to be a saint or even a good person in some cases (although I try to be.) I've made tons of mistakes in my life. I'm just saying I've never gotten into legal troubles. I probably could have in my younger days. I was a very heavy binge drinker in high school and college and could've easily gotten into trouble, but I didn't. In fact, I think it's pretty hard to get arrested or even questioned by police. I believe you really have to be doing something bad or you have to be a constant nuisance to get into trouble with the law, because when I was a kid, we pretty much got away with anything.

Perhaps some people don't like broadcasting they've been arrested. I certainly know lots of people that have been arrested, and I suspect even more that don't talk about it.
Hell, I have a buddy doing 9 years right now, and another that just got out.

Maybe so, but I can only go on my past experiences. I live in rural Ohio, which is pretty much redneck central. We did a lot of crazy stuff on Friday night, but we knew how to cover our tracks, because we didn't want to get caught. It seems to me like people today are a lot more brazen. They do things out in the open, like they wanna get caught. I don't understand. Part of the fun of doing something bad was covering it up as not to get caught.
