Quote:Not sure how it's a clear choice unless there's a guarantee he's going to 100% fully recover. If he's sitting out all of 2016 and there are serious question marks about him recovering, he's not draftable IMO.
He was number 1 for me all year. This injury just makes me feel bad for the kid but whether he recovers or not is all that matters.
If he can i hope he's a jag, but if not.....
I doubt he goes before the 4th.
Drop-foot is pretty darn bad guys. My wife is a nurse at UK hospital and she deals with people who have drop-foot from diabetic nerve damage and they usually don't recover. Obviously they are different situations than an elite athlete with the best doctors and trainers available, but if I were a GM I'd be calling his agent about trying to make him a priority UDFA cause he'd be off my draft board.
Sad news for Smith with the drop-foot news going around. Hope for the best but fear the worse for him.
Imagine the debates we would be having between a healthy Jaylon and a healthy Jack.....

Yes I've seen the twitter injury dudes saying that is actually a scary clip since his left foot is not responding as equally as the right...proving the nerve damage that will require potentially 2 years, if at all, to recover. I thought it was encouraging at first, but I guess not.
Is it heading towards Smith going undrafted? I would definitely use 1 of our 6ths on him. It is a gamble but the upside is too good to give up.

He's off the board for a lot of/maybe most teams, but someone will draft him.

If that's the case I really feel bad for him.. Undrafted Free Agent no matter what.. you take a look at him up close.
I just saw the crawl that they expect him to miss all of 2016 and there is questions as to whether the nerve will ever recover.
Well at least he wasnever corrupted from going to calculus class by being paid a portion of the millions of dollars he helped make for Notre dame.
In all seriousness I hope they had insurance.
Quote:Mayock has him ranked #1 and he's injured and still ranked #1, Jack #2. Please draft the better LB with the 5th overall pick Calwell, LB Jaylon Smith
No one ever takes your bait but you keep trying.

Jaylon Smith's insurance will pay him $700K tax free if he falls out of 1st round, gets $100K w/each missed pick after. Policy from ISI.

<p class="">He's still going to be set for life financially if he plays his cards right, but not nearly as well as he could have been.
The beginning of the end for NFL draftees playing in meaningless bowl games.

It'd be in his best interest to go undrafted altogether.

No kidding. If he drops to the 1st pick in round 5, he makes over 10 million dollars. He makes 20M according to those numbers if he goes undrafted.
Those insurance numbers seem a little excessive.

Also, if I were Leonard Fournette, I'd seriously thing about taking the year off. Not only does he risk injury but he could also save a lot of wear and tear by not carrying the ball 300 times like he did last season.

Dalvin Cook too. I don't either has much to gain by playing.
I still think the Jags should grab him in the 3rd maybe even 2nd. His talent is worth it

2nd round pick on a guy who may never play football again? Pass
