Quote:This team isn't any better than they were last year at this time.. they are still playing like a bunch of guys and not a team... neither side of the ball takes care of the other side of the ball. It's a train wreck cause by Gus.... and he will be back.
I don't see it this way.
I'm pretty sure the team is way better then they were last year at ANY time. I bet statistics and record would prove that without a doubt.
But what what i don't understand is the "Side of the Ball" comments....How would offense take care of the other side of the ball and vice-versa? Not trying to be argumentative, just asking what you mean. This is a new one to me.

They are much better on the side of the ball where we changed coaches, the part of the team that our head coach isn't a "guru." The other part declined. That should tell everyone something.

Yea...the offensive explosion we've beared witness to this year is clearly the difference between Fisch and Olson. Definitely not the development of our second year starters on offense. Nah. No way. Really, going from the leagues' worst offensive coordinator to the second worse made all the difference in the world.

You're right, coaching doesn't matter. Just roll the ball out and offer ice cream and 'toonies and it'll be Superb Owls for decades.
So, youd've kept Fisch and think that this offense would be this good? lol.

Maybe not....even probably not.
But I like my chances with offensive improvement with Fisch and Bortles, Robinson, Hurns, Thomas, et al over Olson without those guys.
Quote:Strongly disagree here.
If we're both being honest, there is only one guy from this year's defense that definitively starts on that 2007 defense: Telvin Smith, and that would only be if Daryl Smith played Sam. We'll be generous since both Stroud missed a lot of time that year and Marks missed a bunch of time this year and call that a push, but we both know Stroud was the better player between the two. Henderson would start over Miller. Paul Spicer of 2007 would start over any DE currently on the Jaguars roster. Heck, even rotational guy Rob Meier is better than his contemporary equivalent, Ryan Davis, because Ryan Davis doesn't get any PT this year. Poz was a better run defender than Mike Peterson, but Peterson was much better against the pass. We currently have no CB as good as Rashean Mathis was in 2007. I'll call Brian Williams and Aaron Colvin a push at this stage. Sammy Knight was more consistent than Cyprien, and Reggie Nelson his rookie year was a better athlete than Sergio Brown and a better player overall.
This defense is on pace for more sacks than that 2007 squad in part because they blitz more. Though neither defense can be described as blitz heavy, this defense blitzes more than that 2007 team. But not because this defense was in any way more talented than that 2007 group.
You ignored the 2008 team. The 2008 defense was also better, 21st in PPG.
And the 2008 Jags defense did not face the pathetic mess of opponents that this year's team has.
In 2008 Stroud was gone. Knight was gone and Reggie Nelson was content to live off his rookie year, so I'd rate the safeties as equal if not better this year. Let's call the LBs equal. Henderson had an off year, no better than Miller, although their roles are different.
Meier was the other DT and a major disappointment when put in a starter role. I'd rate Odrick at least as good as Spicer, and Hayward no better than Clemons (Branch is better than Harvey). Mathis was still a good CB but two years removed from his Pro Bowl season and missed four games, Williams = Colvin and Florence = Gratz (with McCray better than any of them, but that just shows how clueless Gus is).
Pretty much the same skill level, with a lot worse results this year against the weakest offenses the jags will ever see.
Quote:Are these the same whiners who cried about Gus hiring "The only OC worse than Jedd Fisch"?
As a matter of fact, for all the hubaloo about Bortles and ARob, we've only outscored 5 teams out of 14 games so far, and those were bad teams to boot.
Not exactly something to write home to mom about...
I wish you madden players would hush with the Bradley talk, coaches have zero effect on the game, teams just hire them for photo ops and sound bites.

You lose.
Oh my god.
You guys get off the McCray bandwagon.... these coaches aren't benching him to spite you guys...
he was a 7th rounder....
you are the clueless one. Otherwise, you'd likely be coaching in the NFL.

It did actually. Olson is a stud. Steve Young called him the best coach he's ever had. Fisch is lucky to be a high school coach compared to Olson who actually allows Bortles to play to his strengths and throw the ball down the field instead of dink and dunk screens.

Clearly, you're another moron internet poster and doesn't see that the league's 30th ranked defense in scoring has a little something to do with that.

All I know is that he played great last year.
Also, he's played well when given the opportunity this year as well.
Let's also remember that Gus benched house after the tin horn game. So it's not like he's given us a lot of reasons to trust his eye for who is better in the secondary.
Benched house for gratz, for crying out loud.

Gus's favorite flavor is bubble gum too.

The offense is much better this year without a doubt. "Offseason Explosion," uh no. Dial that one back a bit IMO.

34 - Defense scored 2 TDs and basically another one (21 point's credit to the D)

51 - that qualifies (14 points credited to Defense/Special Teams)

I don't think it's actually an "Offensive Explosion" when there are only 3 games out of the whole season that were 30 points or more.
In the Buffalo game, the Defense produced more scoring points than the offense did. (although the Defense also allowed the Bills to score at will too)
The Colts game qualifies as an "Offensive Explosion." However, 14 of those 51 points went to the defense.
Incredible improvement over the past few years? Oh yes, absolutely!
Offensive Explosion? No, not in my mind.

This is the Jaguars. At one time 16 points in a single game was an explosion. This team averaging over 20 ppg is damn near a miracle.

I agree. I edited last post to add:
Improvement over past few seaons? Oh yes, absolutely!
Offensive Explosion? No, not in my mind.
I have to disagree that this Offense did not explode this season as compared to last year. in 2014, the team scored 25 points one time versus the NYG. This year in 14 games they've done it five times already.
Is it elite? No, not yet but to think that they have not improved drastically over last year just doesn't seem true to me.

I agree the offense is drastically improved. In that sense, the word "explosion" fits.
I just took the term to mean alot of points (30+) in most games, that's all.
Even the biggest trolls can see the offense is drastically improved.

So leading the AFC in scoring since week 5 is a bad thing and not an explosion of the offense?
If this defense could be at least average, we would be leading he division and heading to the playoffs.
