Well yes... given that Khan has already pretty much indicated he intends to hang on to Gus for at least one more season. We didn't get much say in the matter.

Fire Babich, but keep the excitement alive.

And is that bad? The current system is producing 5 wins; is that the heights we wish to aspire to? Anew system may bring this team to the next level
Quote:You really can't reliably say that.
Coughlin had and has such a grasp of the game that you could tell me he was calling the defense, and I'd have believed you. Gus has such a grasp of the game that he can barely call a timeout right. You tell me who's going to have real influence on the other side of the ball.
With BB5 AR15 and Hurns the offense is talented enough to over come a change imo.

Quote:What excitement?

Every week has been exciting outside of the Patriots game. This game was exciting as heck.

Look at the talent on defense he is working with. His 2 best d-lineman are out. Poz is old with one arm, a journeyman FS with Sergio, an undrafted Dan Skuta who played in a 3-4, Jared Odrick who primarily played DT in Miami.

You'd have better luck playing the Little Giants defense. One time.

Of course we still want Gus.  Today was a case of, once again, not getting home against an experienced QB, and not taking advantage of opportunities on offense.  Too many key drops and Bortles was off target too many times.  The offense took a step backwards today, but you have to admit in recent weeks they had taken some giant steps.

Atlanta is a quality team, especially on offense.

The team came out flat. Again. This has become a theme.

Gus isn't the right guy.  We need to cut our losses.  3 years is more than enough time to see it.

Exacty. I'm just holding out hope that we get a new D coordinator and Tae a hard look at special teams coach.

A little better execution on a few plays and the Jaguars are 9-5 or 10-4.

yeah that team on a long losing streak is quality.

So quality that they lost 6 in a row.  Including a loss against a Gabbert led 49ers.

This was a game, at home, that they should have won and played better in.

At what point do you blame Gus?  When he loses another dozen games by the end of next year?  Then is it time? He isn't a good head coach.
Gus still blew a timeout call, and it cost us time after the two-minute warning. Just sayin'. Great coaches have figured out how to call timeouts by the end of their third season, ya know?

How do you know what either man's "grasp of the game" is?  How do you quantify that?  Do you really think that DC, a man who clearly knows what he's doing, hired and is keeping someone who he believes has no "grasp of the game?"

These are honest questions.
Quote:Exactly. It's not like Gus is coaching the heck out of a scrappy roster to 5 wins like Coughlin in 2001/2002. Any coach could lead the talent on this offense to its current level. What they need is someone who isn't satisfied with "good effort" and ice cream socials and going to demand more from this team.

Overall it's a better roster than the 96 team facing an easier stretch of schedule and they're failing miserably. Coughlin would have taken this roster to the playoffs.
We had a light SoS in what has been a pretty weak division with a rookie qb and two teams with backups, and we're still out of the division race lol.

Absolutely.  This team probably has at least 9 wins right now with Coughlin as coach.

If by exciting you mean never holding a lead against a team on a six game losing streak, then this game was incredibly exciting.
Everyone has forgotten how bad this team was a few years ago?

Don't want Gus but he'll be around next year. If he doesn't reach 500. next year, he should be gone.
