We still need a G to complete the roster, and the only legit FA left is an injured TJ Lang who looks to be signing with either the Seahawks or Lions. This suggests to me we're going to need a G in the draft, and unfortunately we're not in a good position for a shot at Forrest Lamp who is probably going in the early 20s. With this in mind I'm starting to think we're desperate for a starting G at the #35 pick, and there are a few interesting ones. I've looked at Taylor Moton who is ready and willing to play RG or RT along with Dan Feeney and Ethan Pocic who both project more as zone blockers vs power blockers. All three might work, but none are the full package that I'd like to see starting for us.
Then I ran across Temple LT Dion Dawkins who is typically listed as the best OT after the top three first rounders (Ramcyzk, Bolles and Robinson) and carries excellent value as an early second round pick. Dawkins was a fantastic starting OT for Temple, but he gets knocked out of the top three OTs with the following stigma...

...might be better in short areas as a guard rather than in open space as a tackle. He's athletic enough to operate in space, but power appears to be his calling card...

The more I look around and read, the more I realize he's a legit starting NFL Guard with more sheer power blocking ability than any of the names mentioned above. He's truly an ideal candidate.
For you stat guys, here's his combine results...

Dion Dawkins, Temple - 6' 3 7/8", 314 lbs, 35" arms, 9 7/8" hands, 5.11 40-yd, 26" vert, 8' 10" broad, 7.30 3-cone, 4.78 20-yd shuttle

I find myself hoping he makes it to #35.
