Quote:It is weird. There seems to be a lot of passion for this team in the city, but the stadium doesn't reflect that.

I keep hearing about generation Jaguar. Where are they?
Unemployed and paying back mounting student loan debt.
Quote:If every seat is full and the majority are Jags fan as they should be, there won't be a problem.

We don't have a home field advantage because the team isn't good.
I've been of the opinion for years that the most beneficial improvement Khan could make (beyond a decent practice facility...) would be to put some type of retractable cover on that stadium. The benefits of doing this are two fold:

1. if you've ever been in the stadium during the early part of the season and had seats on the east side of it then you know what kind of hellishly hot and unpleasant environment it is. I no longer attend Jags games in person because I can't take the direct sun for very long. With a cover of some sort, even if it were only a tarp like appendage, more people would almost certainly be able/willing to attend. With more fans in attendance at home games on a regular basis, the '12th man' factor would also surely be boosted.

2. I think it could probably be proven that given two stadiums of similar design and capacity, and you covered one of them, the covered stadium would be measurably louder than the uncovered one with the same number of fans present. The reason being that the noise is somewhat reflected back down onto the field by the covering.
Quote:Fixed that for you.   I'm tired of reading these threads every week (especially from people who just watched on TV).   The crowd shows up in amazing numbers considering the putrid product on the field.
lol "amazing numbers."
This franchise seems to be perpetually teetering on the verge of complete success or complete failure.

Every time we win I think, we're finally turning the corner, we're about to have a winning team, and that will bring a full stadium, stability, perpetual happiness for all Jags fans.

Every loss I think we're on the verge Gus getting fired and us starting over with a new coach, more losses, more fan apathy, and the team finally moving to another city.

Yesterday, the stadium was no more than half full.   It reminded me of a preseason game in a thunderstorm.   Large swaths of empty seats on a 75 degree sunny day and a crucial game.

Sometimes, I don't know if this franchise is going to ultimately survive in Jacksonville, or if we are doomed.   Right now, I'm leaning toward doomed.

LOL... read the whole statement... Its amazing anyone bothers to show up at all since the team rarely does.
Quote:I sat in section 220 today and I was yelling as loud as I could. The guys next to me were banging on seats and we were all standing up and whistling and screaming and doing everything we could to help our defense.

But with the distance from the field to the actual seats seems like it isn't as close as to a team like the Patriots stadium.

I wish Khan would put a lid over the stadium to create more sound.

Not to mention my face is always sun burnt.

What are your guys thoughts on this? Do you think Everbank has a homefield advantage with crowd noise like Arrowhead and other loud places?
I agree.  I'm in 241 for each game.  Typically 20% visitors which blows.

Yesterday I had a chance to sit in 210 (which was awesome BTW), but wow was that section quite!

I said the same thing to my friends about the partial cover.

Quote:If you watched the game at home, you wont get sunburned.
So soft.

Question for you season tix holders:

When I'm able to attend, I often buy single game tix in one of the mid-level sections adjacent to the club seats to get a decent view of the field. (Around the 20 yd line I guess)

I've found that I'm one of only a dozen or so folks in the area that get up and make noise on third down in these areas. I'd like to find a section with a good view of the field where more folks are making noise on third downs. Any suggestions?

I'll be at the ATL game.

Season ticket holder here, section 411 is rowdy on third downs, we also have our own version of move the chains. Never go anywhere near club seats if u want to cheer, they hardly cheer.
As I sat in my section at the game yesterday, I noticed that there is no section 439.........there's a section 438 and a section 440, but what happened to section 439?

The curious want to know...........

P.S. Now that I've looked at a schematic of the stadium, there are other sequential sections missing as well............hmmmmmmm.
Friends of mine who live in Duval and have been rabid fans since Day One had season tickets until this season. They couldn't justify spending the money on a team whose performance made them want to leave at halftime. If I was there and I had the extra money I'd surely want season tickets, but I can see where people can lose interest/faith in a team that has been down for so long.

And putting something over the stadium to shield fans from the sun would be a super bonus. I got many a sunburn on pale German/Irish skin while attending games. Sunscreen sweats off too easily.

I think problem this weekend was folks on Thanksgiving travels.

Think it was a fair crowd considering.

Atlanta game should be normal.

And yeah, those 200 seats people glare at you if you stand and make noise.

It's why we're in the SEZ .....LOVE IT! :woot:  :woot:

The Browns game I went to last year (we were 0-7 pregame), I thought the atmosphere was great, considering the jaguars' record. Of course, that was an exciting game and win, and we dominated.

I was semi-surprised by the sight of the empty seats against both Tennessee and San Diego, but the team is soooo boring/frustrating to watch. I can understand why the fans decide to sit at home and watch on TV.

Just win, and the stands will fill back up.

Stadium is too [BLEEP] wide open to create that kind of noise. The acoustics don't keep sound in.

OK, not directed towards you per sea, however your post gives me the opportunity to reply so with that said...

PLEASE!  It is Thanksgiving Weekend!  Jacksonville is a transient town!  How many of the fans are visiting family?  Just because I choose to cut my vacation short to be there by one day does not mean I expect every fan to do the same.  Factor that in with how putrid the product on the field has been for the past few years. All of you stop indicting the fans until there is a worthy product on the field.  It is not like we are the Atlanta Braves winning division title after title and not filling up a stadium for the playoffs.  Our last winning season was what year again?

Rant over, carry on.
Quote:Yeah, I agree. Bradley's time is up. There is too much talent of this football team.

And a great owner.

He just can't get it done.

But I would like to know everyone else's thoughts on the stadium. Trying not to fire Gus in this thread.

Yeldon started out strong yesterday, but his stats did not wow at all. Had less than 50 yards rushing. We need 2 things desperately in the draft. An elite DE and RB.

So to clarify, when your running back gets hit in the back field play after play after play, yet still manages positive yards you should replace him?

I didnt say he needed to be cut, but we need a Freddy T or MJD. Yeldon is not what those guys were. Hes solid. I know our oline sucks, but do you think thag would stop FT or MJD? Hell no
I'll just run out back to the all-pro RB tree and pick a Fred Taylor or MJD to replace Yeldon with. Shouldn't be hard.
The Titans had an announced of 58,000 yesterday.

The Jags started the last three seasons 0-7, an NFL record. The fact that the team gets 60k a game to watch them shows what a strong NFL town this is.
