I'm already ready to order my Campbell jersey.

Hopefully he can give us a lot of production.

In his hey dey he was an absolute beast. I still expect him to be a bit beastly as the Jaguars starting LDE.

his hey dey was last year.

Impressive...

I just looked at his stats.

8 sacks... but he pretty much averages 8 sacks every year over the past 8 seasons as a starter. In other words, you can bank on a sack every other game. You can also bank on a ball batted down about once in every three games, and a forced fumble or two every season.

You have to look at more than just sacks/stats. He was a top 2-3 3-4 DL last year. BR has him as 2nd best 3-4 DE after Bosa and PFF has him as the second best interior rusher behind only Aaron Donald. He puts pressure on the QB consistently and wrecks the run game.
He's an animal. An elite defender and is immediately the best player on our team. And we will get him for 2-3 years in his prime. His skill set should age well.
I wish nfl.com would show fumble recoveries among their basic stats. You have to really look for them.

Campbell had 3 FRs this past season including this one...

Who cares how much he Costs? They wanted to pay Vernon more last year.

What if Kevin Dyson was 0.01 second faster?   I don't want to lose the super bowl just because we decided to take the slower RB

Because Emmitt Smith's 4.5-4.6 40 was obviously a hindrance to Dallas winning it all.

Campbell>>>>Vernon
Andre Branch is getting 9 mil a year

Calais Campbell has been consistently one of the best Dline man in the league, only ever missed 6 games, productive every year, team captain and leader. I'd say that's worth 14 mill a year to us
A 30+ year old FA D lineman with pedigree heading to Jacksonville. So novel and exciting.

He'll give us the few years of outstanding service we need, considering we are so close.
I like the potential FA signings so far. Our D will be literally POPPIN to say the least. Now we have to work on upgrading the OL as well.

Ah, I forgot about Andre Branch. He must feel so miserable to play in the playoffs the first season he left Jags. Now getting dough from those silly fish.

Can't hate on him. If I could make millions being average I would!
Quote:Leonard Fournette could be the pick. But I wouldn't be surprised if we go after Marshon Lattimore. He would be the perfect CB across Jalen Ramsey. That is if we don't sign a corner. Lattimore ran a 4.36 and had a 11 foot broad jump and a 39 inch vertical. Only thing I would be worried about is his history of leg injuries.

I'm not 100% sure on Marshon being the guy. He's somewhat...anemic? to playing the run. And when your VP of FO and HC talks constantly about toughness and grit...that's probably a trait that might knock him down the value chart.
Quote:Base:

Campbell  -  Jones/Miller  -   Jackson  -   Ngakoue/Fowler

Nickel:

Fowler -  Campbell/Marks/Day    -  Jackson/Marks/Day   -  Ngakoue

I have no idea if they'll successfully deal Marks or not --  and I can't guess how many DTs they will keep right now --  but it's shaping up nice for rotation in the middle on nickel downs. Fresh legs on big guys getting after the passer is a good, good thing.

Assuming we decide to make a scheme change, there's actually one particular scenario that intrigues me: Solomon Thomas.

On the draft thread, I've stated that his sample size is larger at 3T and its very very impressive. Can he translate? Not sure, so people are thinking he's a better LDE (especially with his speed/burst combo from combine, though I'm not convinced of his bend but if the speed/strength/burst combo holds up, its not a big deal).

But the real intriguing aspect of taking Thomas now that Campbell is apparently here: Malik, Thomas, and Campbell can all line up at DT or DE.

We can basically move any of the three players on base down depending on match-ups and they'll be able to cause havoc.
I like the signing. Gives us a good veteran presence at DE.

One thing I learned a long time ago- don't ever buy the jersey of an active player.  I bought a Byron Leftwich jersey about a week before he got cut.

The safest thing is to order a Fred Taylor or Tony Boselli jersey.
