Quote:Just to be clear, we are not talking about starting McCray in a base 4-3 set over Colvin right?

I'm all for McCray coming in on nickel downs and moving Colvin inside. Wasn't McCray our best CB last year?

Last year McCray was easily our best CB. This year he's apparently trash tho despite looking like a shut down CB on tape. The coaches surely see Gratz getting torched right and left, but they figure what else can they do because it's clear McCray in their opinion is barely worth his roster spot.

Quote:What's your point... The best CBs in the game get beat too

Twice on that one drive he gave up a first down.

My point is that he's probably a better option than Gratz at this point, but he's not as good as some want to believe around here.

He looked bad in preseason and I remember him looking like this ^ too many times during the first three weeks or so of regular season.

Those touting him as "great" are reaching IMO. He looked really good in a good handful of games last year, but hasn't shown me much this season when he's been out there. Including the final drive Thursday.
Quote:Every season has its missing persons mystery. The curious disappearance of Mccray easily wins this years award over Branch.

If you ask gus, You'll get the same answer any other coach would give. "Well, We believe in putting the best players on the field...blah blah blah coach speak". Was it skill reduction or did he move into the Doghouse?

The only player who appears to be even deeper in Gus' dog house is Chris Smith.

Gus also benched House for Gratz
These kinds of threads belong at the kids' table.

Probably?? He's definitely better than Gratz. You could also point out the numerous times he blanketed the receiver and didn't let them throw the ball his way. McCray just needs playing time. Also, McCray didn't play at all early in the season. So I'm not sure who you're watching

Best post in here.

Yes he did play some series and snaps at corner in a few of the early games this year. And on the final defensive series Thursday.

I'm not making this stuff up. I want better play opposite House as bad as anybody, but McCray did get benched for a reason. I hope we see him play next week. I think he'll "probably" play better than Gratz.
From a physical standpoint, Gratz is prototypical for this system. Too bad he doesn't have the skill. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane

House was benched for Gratz too...
House has made some big plays of late, I think people need to chill on him.

you talkin about the coach?
Quote:you talkin about the coach?
Yeah... I think we can all agree that the "accountability" benching of House after playing Hopkins OK except for two or three poor plays was a little over the top.

But, hey.... House IS playing better, so.... maybe it worked?

What kind of toy would you like with your happy meal?
Quote:Gratz is the worst DB in NFL history
Aaron Ross... nuff said
Quote:It's ok to admit you are wrong Gus...

House and McCray on the outside with Colvin in the slot...

It's amazing how the number of passes completed go down when McCray is defending...
Trying to figure out if the McCray love is because of what you think he's able to do or if its more of Gratz hate?

Demetrius McCray played in 3 games with 0 PD... i dont get it, but i guess you are a huge fan of him???

I  am not a Gratz fan but he's out played McCray to earn the spot.

You can't get a PD when the ball isn't thrown your way...

Trying to figure out the McCray love? How about try to figure out why he was demoted into oblivion? His play on the field certainly has not dictated such... I believe that McCray is our second best cornerback, behind House. Colvin plays the slot pretty well and is versatile, but I think our strength is when House and McCray are playing outside.

Also, what makes you think Gus has ANY idea what he is doing - especially with the secondary - with him shuffling House in and out, deeming Gratz the best corner in the offseason (after McCray had the better season), and the McCray enigma...?

Again, it's ok to make a mistake and own up to it - but to continue to keep at his bonehead ways is a recipe for disaster. One that will possibly end up in him no longer being employed.

lolwut
Here is an article in week 14 last yearl

Quote:Another great game for McCray logged in the books. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed just two passes while targeting McCray for 21 yards. McCray has now started nine games and has yet to allow more than three catches or 32 yards. Since he got put into the starting lineup he is allowing just 14 yards per game. If he finishes the season strong, he should be considered for the Pro Bowl.
