There were some questionable calls, and as I viewed the replay of that catch from walters, it did look good; so I can't blame Gus for that challenge. How could Gus know that Marshall would drop a punt? He couldn't. (gads... I'm sounding like a Gus apologist).

As far as Bortles having a 'hero complex'... well, it's just unfortunate that the team finds itself in need of heroics to try to save face (and failing) far more often than not.

It was an entertaining game, and not a boring 'blow out' as we've seen too many times in the past. Yup... we shot ourselves in the foot again, but even as callused as I've become where the Jags are concerned, I think they played a tough game, and didn't just roll over and go 'belly up'. So for that, my hats off to the team.

Maybe we'll win some games yet...

Too many mistakes. Repeated mistakes. The number of turnovers is way too high.

Pass protection and run blocking were bad today. Blake had a few flashes, and an equal number of bad plays. JT continues to be MIA.
Good post and notes. I mostly agree. Improvement everywhere but the Win column and the head coach position. I think the Jets got to be very very physical without hankies. Very unfortunate for the team. I am waiting for the team to turn it up a notch with the whole us against the fans thing.

Nice to see an honest evaluation with no vitriol.

I hated to see them lose, but am encouraged.

Quote:1. Hurns might be one of the best receivers in the game today.

2. Bortles has come a very long way, but he has a long way yet to go.

3. The Jets had 18 men on the field: 11 players and 7 officials.

4. Gus still hasn't learned how to call a timeout.

5. The Jets' punter is a better kicker than our kicker.

6. Yeldon needs help. He's not going to be the type of back that can make something from nothing. That's not an indictment of his ability, just a statement that if offensive linemen are falling backwards into him, it's going to bring him down.

7. What's Reggie Barlow up to these days?

8. As much as I hate Gus' coaching, substitutions, time management and sideline demeanor, it's not always his fault. This one's on the players.
Obviously, teaching Marshall how to catch punts...
I thought Luke gave up on the play and his share of the double team block on the 4th Q fumble

I'm convinced that Bortles is the real deal. Also, we have probably the best receiving depth in the NFL. Our defense against the run is top 5 in the NFL. Telvin Smith is pro bowl quality.

Now, the bad.......

Our special teams is terrible. Our pass coverage is mediocre, at best. Our offensive line can't pass protect and is less than average in the running game. We could have gotten the same quality punter as an undrafted free agent.......wasted a third round pick. Thomas is another in a long line of aging vets who "retire" in Jacksonville after signing a big final contract.

Just my opinion.
Even though both had a drop or two, both AR15 and Hurns are very big bright spots for this team also
On offense, the line was not good.  It needs new pieces in the offseason; the status quo there is not desirable.  Also, under quick pressure, Blake needs to understand where and find a check down receiver, TE, or back.  Maybe it's an issue of play design, but he needs a quick outlet when the other team brings it.

On defense, a pass rush is still needed.  I hope Fowler can contribute next year, and they find another rusher in addition to him.

Can we just stop with the [BLEEP] turnovers though? The ones that don't happen to any other team except this one. I wouldn't even be upset that we lost if those things didn't happen.

It's becoming such a regular phenomena that when I get invested in the game I don't even flinch when it happens. It's comical that these things weren't sorted out at the bye.

Yea we know Gus stinks as bad as a spoiled milkshake.  The players are as much to blame.

Bortles:  A ghost fumble near their own goal line, combined with another stupid throw late in the game.  381 yds 2 tds should be an excellent game.  Bortles has a knack for making a turnover at just the wrong time.

Thomas: The team is paying $8 million a year for this?  The guy seems lazy.  Looks to be a Manning product.

The Secondary:  I understand most dbs do not have great hands.  This secondary drops every ball that hits their hands.  I don't believe any of our db's has an int all year.

Any receiver/tight end not named Allen or Walters:  They should all be replaced

The Refs:  This team never gets the call.  This team gets no respect and any judgement call goes against this team.

Lee: I still don't understand why he is not on I.R.   The guy stays hurt

This team has adapted a Losing culture.  I really hope Khan finds us a new head coach and open up the check book  next year.

If you can't support a coach who has taken our team 9-31, then you're not a true fan.

Lol careful, people soiled themselves the last time I said Julius Thomas had to prove himself without Peyton Manning.
Time to get a winner.

If Marshall fields that punt cleanly, I think we win the game. Tragic.

Anyone else curious as to why we are spending tens of millions of dollars on Thomas and barely integrate him into the offense? I thought for sure with the bye week and a the issues at safety the Jets have we were gonna see Blake take some shots down the seam.
The fact that Blake has a long way to go and yet threw for 381 and 2 TDs.... Against the Jets.

Lol none of the other teams in the league muff punts and throw picks?
We really need to find a pass rush for next year.
Quote:Go home!

For telling the truth. That play was a big play of the game. He was wide open

I'd be good with Fowler coming back and our 1st round picking being the top DE coming out.
