Quote:Let me try to make sense of your rant.

Not sure what I'm "defending". What I am saying is picking in the top 5 is a promise for nothing. Caldwell could screw it up. Pick could miss. Injuries happen. "Talent" is evaluated poorly (2013 draft) and better picks are had in the mid picks with less pressure.

If you are asking would I rather make the playoffs than not? Yes.

If that is stupid. Dunce cap me!

Please come back to it.

I'm not stupid enough to root for a team to lose to potentially get a higher selection for possible talent.

I'd MUCH rather see fruits of our labor, this season. Even if it ends in 7-9 and picking 14th instead of picking 4th.

Stupid. Ha. Stupid is WANTING your team to lose.

It worked so well in the long run for the clots.

Don't want to have to NEED a top 5 pick that HAS to contribute as a ROOKIE.

But carry on dude. Whatever tickles your pickle.

The "fruits of our labor" the offense took several steps forward and the defense took several steps back. Keep smoking it bro. LOL
Quote:It seems people are excited that there's a chance to beat some bad teams or teams missing key players.  Why?  Only to get stomped if we were to face a real team in the playoffs (or to show "improvement")?  What's the gain?  You prove you can beat bad teams and lowered your draft position (which doesn't help long term)?

I'd rather we faced average or above average teams so we can all see where we really stand.  If there's genuine progress then great.  If there's not then Khan can consider changes as needed.

It seems strange that you would rather see the Jags play teams not on the schedule.  I'm guessing a series of blowout losses against good teams would not make you happy - unless it gets Gus fired maybe?  Careful, your agenda is showing.

At the same time, you DON'T want to see the Jags play a good team in the playoffs.  Don't you want to "see where we really stand"?  Or is it that making the playoff would mean Gus is here in 2016.  Agenda.

Bro.

Defense was on fiya VS Bills early and often. And our O was weak, much of the game.

You can try to pretend that the NFL rise to the top is a straight and easy linear trip but I know better. I'm enjoying this. I've had the chance to watch a franchise be born, experience wonderful success early, go through ups and downs, and some more success and then the lowest of lows. The historical bads. I'm going to enjoy the uptick. Slow and steady is fine by me.

I'm mature enough to know how to properly enjoy professional sports.

You seem to be on the same clown page as Kane and the other weirdos. Yes, lets face NE/Indy (with Luck, not a 40+ year old QB)/Cincy/Den in the playoffs. I would absolutely love to do that after looking so terrible on defense after 8 games.

No believe me, I'm glad that you think you're mature enough to know how they work, that's absolutely awesome.

The funny thing is though is that like I mentioned in the previous post, you failed to acknowledge how greatly the offense has taken a step forward while the defense has taken ten steps backwards.

So your "knowledge" and "maturity" of how professional sports go, is completely invalid.

Enjoy it though! Smile

Edit: Your "knowledge" and "maturity" is really just your lack of intelligence showing while trying to 1-up me. Big Grin

You don't seem to understand how playoff seeding works.  If they win the AFC South, the Jaguars would be the 4th seed, which hosts the 5th seed, a wildcard team - likely Oakland, Jets, Miami or Pittsburgh.  There would be no Andrew Luck in the playoffs, he would be watching the Jags from his couch.
AnyGivenSunday,

Just stop you are embarrassing yourself.  We're talking about a hypothetical situation where you'd give up on a HOME play-off game for a top 5 draft pick that is unknown...

Anyone that would take a daft pick instead of winning the division and playing a home game against maybe the Raiders (they potentially could be a wildcard team which we stack up well against) is not thinking logically or clearly.

Take a minute and collect your thoughts...

Then post again.

If your concern is getting blown at home during a playoff game, I think the NFL fandom thing is not really cut out for you.  Also, the AFC overall is very top heavy.  After the  Pats, Broncos, and Bengals, the drop off to the next tier is significant.  As I said in another thread, if we actually blitzed more often on obvious passing downs, we'd be a much improved defense.

As your name says, AnyGivenSunday, on any given Sunday anything can happen.  I guess maybe you forgot that?  Yet another way you are embarrassing yourself...

Ok, I see what you did there, you just simply took the teams that wouldn't be playing the Jags and inserted other teams.

The funny thing is that you mentioned Oakland and Miami. Come on man.

Not only that, but do you think we will win the division over Luck? Come on.

All you guys are making hypothetical assumptions based on best case scenarios, and I'm someone going off of actual results and the way the team is literally looking at the present moment. And I'm the stupid one? I'm done in this thread. Sorry y'all can't grasp common sense, but that's out of my hands.

Yea our renaming schedule is very weak i'm talking all time weak, while the Colts and Texans have very tough schedules and Tenn is just awful, even our games vs 2 teams with winning records right now are winnable Jets and ATL.

If we can close out games in the 2nd half of the year and just go 5-4 we could win the division, we have been in every 4th qt this year outside of the Pats game.

This pretty much says it all, and I'm the one embarrassing myself?

Have a good day bro. LOL.

You do realize you literally just tried taking me using a hypothetical situation vs making up your own hypothetical situation to try and make me look bad? LOL... you guys are too easy, come on? Really? LOL

Do you watch football???  Luck has been god aweful this season!  Holy cow man...   Step away from the keyboard!!!

This whole conversation is hypothetical!!

Would you rather have a home playoff game or a top 5 pick?

You want the pick... And you are the one calling people stupid/idiotic...  The sane people are saying they'd prefer the home play-off game.  That's the way a real/normal/logical fan would react...
Quote:I'd rather have a top 5 pick than to get destroyed in the first game of the playoffs because we didn't deserve to be there in the first place.
What?

I rather make the playoffs and build on that, Panthers made it at 7-9 last year, look at them this year, Seahawks made it at 7-9 one year and after that become a powerhouse

Uh...  You started this whole thing by calling people idiots for wanting to win the division instead of having a top 5 pick...

You're beginning to freak me out...

Oh, you mean the few games before he was injured? Oh wow, yeah crap... cause they definitely won't beat us the rest of the way. LOL

Right, you're doing what the others are, you're taking numbers vs what you see on the field and making it into an argument. I'm not worried about being looked at as an "idiot" in that regard. This team is two plays from being winless. Period.

Naw, Luck has been bad this entire season and even before then, he's been over-rated...

Their O-Line is bad, their running game is terrible.  And they are only 3-4.  If they lose tonight, we're only a game back with a much easier schedule than them.

Look, I'm not saying we will win our Division.  I think Gus Bradley is the worst coach in the NFL and he will keep us out of the play-offs this year.  But, if by some miracle things turn around, we can win this division with a 7-9 maybe even 6-10 record.  If that happens, I'd be ecstatic!  I'd take that over a top 5 draft pick any day of the week.  And twice on any given Sunday...

HOW IN THE HELL DOES THIS MAKE US BETTER THAN HAVING A TOP 5 PICK TO MAKE UP FOR BAD COACHING?

That was literally my main point of rather having a top 5 pick was how bad the coaching is!!!! They haven't shown positive halftime adjustments once, in the whole first half of the season!!!! Last game was definitely more proof of that...

We are also a few plays from having 1 loss, only the Pats blew us out, the rest of the games we were in it in the 4th, so I dont get why you think we will automatically get blown out in the 1st

round of the playoffs.

Panthers game pick 6, Colts 2 missed game winning FGs, TB rookie RB fumbles give them a TD, and Houston leading in th 4th and then unravel

WHO CARES??!!!?!?!?

It's a division title and a home playoff game!!!!  It's something to build off of!!!  A top 5 pick guarantees nothing.  Besides, I trust Dave Caldwell to find good/great players whereever we pick when draft rolls around.

I'd prefer to have excitement in January, not in May!  I think most fans would agree with me.

Seriously? I'm done.... you guys are just literally reaching for straws. You're going overboard and defending to great lengths against the #12 out of 16 team in the AFC, and around the 26th team overall in the NFL... since y'all like numbers so much.

I'm out. Enjoy your little party you got going on in here.

Btw, I'll be at the Chargers game, so it ain't like I don't support the team.
