Quote:Yeah, guess it has been substantially more successful in the NBA... still though NBA clearly doesn't depend on coaching as much as NFL does. Case in point my Gators coach Billy Donovan going to the Thunder.
actually I was pointing to the fact that it doesn't really work in the NBA, but teams still do it (I'm looking at you 76ers!)

They have a lottery, you could suck the worst and still get the 4th pick instead of 1st.

My point is, professional sports athletes that get cut if they aren't any good do not suck and lose on purpose.

However, a GM or coach could purposefully not make adjustments to the roster to field a poor team, a la the clots with Painter, to hope to lose.

Which is pathetic, coach player, GM, or fan. Wanting to lose? Pathetic.

No that's cool, I'm fine being labeled as pathetic I have no worries. Like I said, I'll still be at the Chargers game (if not more) having fun, but yeah I definitely want us to have a top 5 pick!!!

GO HARGREAVES!!!!

OK, you have the right to that opinion.

But, to call other people idiotic for wanting a play-off game is something you should realize is rather odd when considering your position is to lose now in hopes for an unknown thing to happen that may actually not benefit us anyways.

I just found that something to LOL out loud about...

I'm a Gator fan too.

If we pick #1 overall. You want Hargreaves?

Oh man I don't know, I want Hargreaves but a CB #1? That's unheard of, who would be better ahead of him? I was hoping we got a stud on defense to go with Fowler as if we had 2 1st round picks starting next year.

.....so we need to lose. But not too many....

Understood.

---to answer your question, if we draft top 5 again.... Bosa or Lawson seem obvious to me.

but I kind of like Myles Jack and Jaylen Smith at LB picking outside the top ten

late teens though I'm targeting A'Shawn Robinson DT from Bama

Quote:Your snide response doesn't make the Jags any better.  Thanks for contributing valuable insight here.
I didn't perceive the 'snidness' of the remark, but I do agree with you that turning a 6-10 season (which seems miraculous at this point) by having unbelievable luck due to other teams misfortune would only prove to hurt us in the long run.  And if... by some 'fantasmagorical' turn of events this team did make it to the play offs and we played a good team... we would be humiliated worse than the patriots debacle. We just aren't a good team yet.

So while I'm of the mind that 'a win is a win' and they all count the same in the record book, no one here should harbor any delusions about the actual competence of this team.

Gulliver was a giant... as long as he only hung out with the lilyputens.

my snideness came from "Want in one hand and [BLEEP] in the other and see which fills up faster"

I really want to know what Bosa and Fowler coming on at the same time would be like, but I think Bosa might be picked higher than we will be. I have no problems with Myles Jack or Smith though, I just hope we get at least majority picks towards the defense this year and they pan out at least halfway throughout the year if not sooner.

To rephrase that, I think Bosa will go higher than Hargreaves. Because I do want Hargreaves like I said.

Quote:This remaining schedule could not be easier. It's the softest I've seen in quite some time.

Titans x2

Texans

Colts

Jets

Ravens

Chargers

Saints

Falcons

Hmm. Yup, that's about as easy as it could get,, on paper (for a top/middle-tier team).

For Jax though? Idk man. We'll see how they finish out. It wouldn't surprise me to see them win a few of those. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me to see them lose 7 or 8 more either.
