Quote:You're the one with common sense? You're defending a 6-28 coach and a team that can't put up points in the second half to save their life. You did the same when Gene Smith was here. You act like you're some extremely smart football god and all those who don't agree with everything that the team does is inferior to you. Keep trying to insult me, its the only thing you've got.

How am I defending anyone? I'm not even agreeing with everything the team does. Once again, you confuse patience with defense and agreement. Maybe it's a comprehension thing? Clearly there's a disconnect somewhere between your ears. I'm not defending anyone or in agreement with everything. But hey, tell yourself whatever you need to in order to keep up the hand wringing.
Quote:And how exactly am I supposed to construe these words?

"Bradley said as much during the team’s annual kickoff luncheon earlier this month, when he said he told his players during a meeting just before training camp that the objective was to build a team that owns the AFC South.

"It’s built, and it’s time, and our players need to have that mentality," he said."

We lost to a divisional opponent playing their 40 year old back-up. It's clear to me that either the team isn't "built" or the players don't have the right mentality. Which is it?
it's built.

but they're not mature enough yet ( in football sense)
can't stand Bozolli. dude does nothing but consume all the air/oxygen in the room. just cause you talk louder than everyone else, and shout down people (admittedly, some people/callers are VERY deserving off being shouted at), doesn't make you the final judge and juror on all things  Jags.

I do think Garrard and Lageman provide fair and tempered critiques of the team.

And again you confuse me not being happy with how the teams plays with me being a biber. You ask for "time", let me ask you this, do you believe that all of a sudden the next 12 games this team is all of a sudden going to turn it around? When was the last time a team that was horrible, switched it around all of a sudden during the season?
Tony is a hot head who gets on fans for being upset. We don't always know what the best way to fix things are, or we don't always know the best way to voice our frustrations, but here just BLASTS fans who call in and say ANYTHING negative about the team.

I used to hate Prisco, but now that he's paired with Tony, I actually like him now
Jaguars media really makes me miss Vic Ketchman.

I miss Vic more than I miss the Jags winning football games.
Quote:The million dollar question is, how do you measure "improvement" without looking at W/L?

Here's one thing I know, when I evaluate that question:

-a QB who is markedly improved, can and does make plays on 3rd down

-a Oline who isn't a sieve and give up 5 sacks a game

-skill position guys who can and do make big plays

-a downfield passing game

-a defense that can "hang in there" and give the team a chance to win

That being said, I'm frustrated too. But if I would have told myself going into week 4 that we'd have Blake throw for 300, not make mistakes and seem to be aware of how not to make them, TJ run for 100, theD give up 16 points, the team make big plays on O, I'd have some level of encouragement.

I didn't have a big hope of making some huge playoff run this year. I wanted to see development from 5 as much as anything, and young players emerge.

Right now, that is happening, but we are missing something.

I see that something as an "identity" as cliche as that is. We are missing a piece, a "something" to get everyone with a bit more confidence to know we should win these games.

We've been the freaking underdog for years, and that takes a toll on the overall psyche. That deal that allows the team to plow forward and not wait for the other shoe to drop. Like it has for the last 1/2dozen years. Just INSANE bad luck-from Matt Jones to JB, Byron, coupled with bad judgment ....Anger, Alualu, Reggie Williams (note: shocking admission of wrongness on a message board) actually I'd hoped that would be Dante Fowler, with Julius Thomas. So be it.

13 points blows. But you have to see development

Those pieces can just fall quickly into place....with a little skill and luck, like Deon Grant, MoJo, Searcy, Means, Reggie Hayward to a degree, Mike P, etc..

Sick of this losing..yeah. But I know it isn't far off....

He was miserable even when the team won. I will say he did a better job at picking on the fans ourselves when we'd stoop to pure idiocy....."Full consistency" style.

Miserable but entertaining. He also wasn't as obnoxiously positive as his replacement. Hell of a lot of football knowledge as well, even if it was starting to get outdated towards the end. It's a young man's game, after all.

For us, 1996.   We were 3-6 and everyone wanted to fire everyone.   We finally lost in the AFC Championship game.

I'm sure there are lots of other examples of teams that were 1-3 and wound up having a great season.

I'm not saying that's going to happen.   But you have to let it play out, even if it's just to let all the head coaching candidates out there know they will have more than 2 years and 4 games before they get fired.   If we're going to attract good candidates, it helps a lot if we have a reputation for patience.
What exactly do you guys miss about Vic?

I miss all the conformists who would think they had the ultimate answer to any argument with some Vic colloquialism...

Oh and all the talk about BAP...  LOL, that was awesome...

BAP is a perfectly good philosophy. Our problem was that we weren't actually picking the best players, just paying the idea lip service.
Everyone knows TB is biased. He gave his all to this team. Cant blame him..
