I'll tell you what if Cam tries to option and run expect Telvin Smith to knock his block off.

This. Telvin is fast for a LB.

Quote:I'm with you here. I checked out Kuechly's stats for the preseason. He had a total of four tackles the first two weeks and hasn't played the last two. This tells me he's hardly played at all and that...unless he's hurt and I just don't know it...the Panthers run D stats are totally misleading.
Yup, analysing from pre season stats ? C'mon maan

i was going to ask why Gratz would even be on the field if we have 8 in the box.

It's a very simple and straight forward analysis. I was saying since Kuechly only had a few tackles the first two weeks and hasn't played since, it means he hasn't played much at all... and if Kuechly hasn't played much, then the Panthers having allowed so many rush yards is very misleading.

Quote:That is the point.
While your starting CBs and Safeties are taking care of Olsen, Funchess, and Ginn (deep) McCray and Gratz are the ones that will be targeted on 3rd down.
Mccray locked down some of the best WRs in the league last season. Im sure your leftover WRs wont be a problem against him. He is a Top 10 CB per PFF stats

I can't wait for this game. I think we match up fairly well against them.
Key to winning this game is our O-line giving Blake time since they do have such a strong front 7. However, their secondary is pretty weak and I don't see them being able to stop Robinson, Hurns, and Greene. If we get our passing game going and get a lead, they're going to have a hard time coming back from it. Other than Olsen, their receivers are terrible and are going to get shutdown by our DBs. All we really have to do is apply just a little bit of pressure to Cam.

In North Carolina, folks tend to forget that they had a 3-8-1 start to the 14' season. Some also like to forget the fact that Dave Gettleman has brought in little to nothing on the offensive side which is what needed the most attention this offseason. I get it, people like Ted Gin but he sounded so much better with KB healthy. The Panthers defense is going to be tough but not unbeatable; Steelers, Ravens, Packers, Saints, Eagles, and Vikings fans would agree. I am excited about this matchup and feel the Jaguars will surprise and win.

Which injury outside of Benjamin will play a role?

That and the Panthers were missing 75% of the starting DL, but don't let reality distort your opinion.

People in NC also realize that we had a disastrous OL, terrible CB's, one WR and a busted up Cam during that stretch.
Here's what changed and lead to the turn around.
Antoine Cason was so bad he was cut midseason and replaces, the other CB was benched. Both Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere played very well and caught the eye of the NFL and even PFF.
DL struggled with a hobbled Charles Johnson and no Greg Hardy but others finally stepped up and CJ returned to form down the stretch.
Our OT's last year were a joke and this is my biggest point of contention with the GM, however our LG was replaced midseason with Andrew Norwell, a UDFA from Ohio St and has been a monster. Paired with rookie Trai Turner this two really solidified the interior OL and allowed the run game to start moving again, thus the resurgence of Jonathan Stewart who was the second or third best RB in the league in the second half of the season. DeAngelo was just done.
As for weapons for Cam, I kind of agree but I have to remember that was the salary cap DG inherited. He believes in playing elite D and controlling the clock, so that's been his priority, but he did draft a WR in the first round, drafted a OG in the 3rd, so ita not like he's just ignoring the problem. He's trying not to throw our very limited resources at names people recognize.
That's the reason people here are so excited. My biggest concerns right now are filling KB's void and the OC, whom I have very little faith in. When they go no huddle and allow Cam to call his own plays we are a far more effective O.
Will we play as well in 2015 as we finished 2014? Who knows, but with a completely healthy Cam and some exciting additions we are certainly optimistic.

Do you agree with Colvin over McCray ? Maybe it was just the one play seeing Colvin catch his heels and give up a td.

We think Colvin will prove to be among the league's elite CBs, but it's early . So far he's only played a half season (actually less as he was drafted injured), so nobody outside of Jacksonville and their fans have any real clue who he is. He's flying under the radar so to speak.
McCray is a guy I like to compare to Josh Norman as one of the best young CBs in the league, only he's our #3 CB behind Colvin and Davon House, a free agent pickup from the Packers.
Our former second round pick Gratz is now our dime corner.
BTW, you might see Colvin playing nickel. This is because he plays inside and outside so well that when we go to three CBs, McCray takes over at the #1 CB spot with Colvin playing the nickel.
