Seriously, we never have all of our starters healthy at once. Someone always has a serious injury at the beginning or end of the season, and a nagging injury through the entire season. Oh, and don't forget about the injury to the player that is starting to breakout mid-season!

I don't think it is too far fetched to say Dave Caldwell's drafts have been WAY better than his free agent moves. It almost seems like a different person is doing the draft and free agency.
It sucks how he got hurt on that play, but I wouldn't look too far into it. He didn't want to play at all last season when it became clear he wasn't staying in Denver. There's a reason why he stayed out when he could've played. Also Dave tried to get McCourty, Cobb and Murray, so I wouldn't say he has failed in FA. It just didn't work out the way he wanted it to.

He's not worried about getting cut. He's playing for his next contract, whether that's here or somewhere else. He's no doubt feeling the heat from the competition the team brought in with Julius Thomas, but he's also aware that he's got one more contract opportunity left in him.
Practical, edgy, but forthright. Sometimes downright donkeyholey, but owns up to it. I know now why I like Tim.
My guess is Lewis won't be retained, unless he proves to be so steady this year that he becomes that fixture that everyone can do with. Caldwell seems to be a my own guy kind of guy in all fuzzy scenarios.

Prosser had a good point this morning, which has already been touched on in this thread. Somebody in the front office messed up big waiting this long to get surgery. If it s such a problem that he can't play on it or wait until the end of the season for surgery, why did he not get surgery two weeks ago immediately after it happened?
What did Dr. Prosser have to say?
If you drafted him in your fantasy league this is a blow. If Blake is close to the guy that showed up against Detroit then this won't matter this much. If he keeps up that level of ball placement he could drag nick Jacobs to 10 TD's.
Eventually, we'll be at the point where we have enough talent stockpiled so that the loss of one player (excluding the QB) won't hurt us. I still say the Jags offense was impressive in preseason, with almost every drive resulting in points. And this is without Thomas. The WRs have to step it up, particularly Hurns and Lee.
Don't forget that Thomas's absence will only be for a month. We're not talking about the entire season. Nor is his injury career-threatening. It was a freak accident that happened to him. It has nothing to do with his so-called fragility. Any TE caught in the same position would have experienced the same injury.
We have a franchise QB. Great teams are built around that. Super Bowl winning teams are built around that. And while people may laugh at the Jags being mentioned in the same sentence with Super Bowl, I feel that the foundation has been laid.

It is not the teams decision it is injured players decision. It is a medical decision. Ligament was stretched and usually heals faster turns out it isn't. Surgery will tighten it up so it goes back to normal quicker. IMO second opinion is to confirm to JT that surgery is now best option for quick healing/return, which is probably what first surgeon said. IMO Jags advice is surgery and JT has not decided.

With the way Marcedes and Harbor have been playing, it's arguable we're already there at TE.
We've appeared to have notably improved on offense even without Thomas.
I am disappointed like everyone else, but I can't say I am surprised though.

Glad he's doing it right away, yesterday preferably . But, hopefully not too many dropped balls til he comes back .
Not sure if this is rehashing what some have speculated or merely confirming, but...
The way I understand it is that it was something routine they felt would heal on it's own.
As it was healing, there was not enough stability in the finger/ligaments - which is what requires surgery to speed up/remedy.
Not something that would have required surgery from the beginning, so somewhat unavoidable and unexpected.
