The way I understand it is that it was something routine they felt would heal on it's own.

As it was healing, there was not enough stability in the finger/ligaments - which is what requires surgery to speed up/remedy.

Not something that would have required surgery from the beginning, so somewhat unavoidable and unexpected.

But the hand wringing must continue!

Initial evaluation was that normally ligament damage would be cleared to play in 4 weeks in time for opener so decision was made to let heal naturally and not go under the knife even though surgery would have healed ligament quicker.

It happens with sports injuries sometimes the healing doesn't go as hoped. Not the same but good example Fred Taylor groin injury...it took longer to heal than everyone thought.

Quote:Classic Jaguars news. We won't have our top draft pick or our top free agent signing available for week 1.

I know that. I'm just wondering if our top defensive lineman will be available?

I sure hope this is the end of his injury struggles. He's missed 5 games over the past two seasons, and now with 3 more that equates to a half a season worth of games over three years provided he doesn't get hurt again.

That's how I understood it as well. Apparently there was a 90% chance his injury would heal as normally thought without needing surgery. But #BecauseJaguars his injury happened to fall into the 10% window requiring surgery.

No, we won't have Marks for week 1. There was an article on it a few days ago with him saying how unrealistic it is to be back for the opener. He's still trying hard to get there, but he doubts the doctors will clear him and its an uphill battle to reach that date.

Also, I doubt he'll even have the burst that he had last year. It'll take probably take half of the season to get back to normal. I'm really worried about our defensive line. There's a huge chance Clemons takes a step back, Marks isn't the same, and Chris Smith can't get a ton of pressure. We're relying on Skuta and Ryan Davis at this point.

Quote:Seriously, we never have all of our starters healthy at once. Someone always has a serious injury at the beginning or end of the season, and a nagging injury through the entire season. Oh, and don't forget about the injury to the player that is starting to breakout mid-season!
How much if any blame goes to Scott Trulock head athletic trainer?

Do you need some Pamprin?
If Bradley starts out 0-4, then he will be on the hot seat.
