Fowler's injury was a devastating blow to this team, but at the end of the day, I'm expecting him to become something similar to what we had with Tony Brackens.  It's been that long since we've had a guy with that kind of athletic ability and strength playing that position.

Quote:Again, I'm not denying the guy has some issues, I'd sign with the hopes he solves those issues and returns to the field as a productive player.
You said,

"Explain to me the risk in signing Aldon Smith, you won't be able to because there is no risk."

Signing someone with " hope " he will solve his issues would strongly be considered a risk.

I'm was speaking from a financial standpoint, there wouldn't be any financial or draft compensation risk.
Seeing our pretty anemic pass rush this preseason makes me think Fowler was definitely the right pick.

Why has nobody signed him yet?

I think interested parties are in the fact finding stage, I do think he'll sign sometime this season. Just my opinion
Quote:I'd rather the team trade for Bruce Irvin and sign Aldon Smith.

Are you Alfie Crow? Come on, it's okay to admit it if you are...

Or at least someone who believes and rallies behind every word written at BCC.

Or just parroting him

... Signing a person to a million dollar contract in " hopes" that he would fix his EXTREMELY dangerous behavior wouldn't be a financial risk?

There's a reason some players are considered to be a locker room cancer.

No way. Let him heal completely while learning film. It's better not to have the injury linger. He's so young, I have no doubt he'll make a full recovery.
Future is more important than the present, no matter how tempting it is.

Quote:Is it too late to put Fowler on PUP instead of IR? I don't believe the team has to designate one way or the other until the season starts, so I think this option is still in play.

Considering he's so young and that the injury happened so early, what if they push the PUP limits as long as they can go? As I recall they have between weeks six and nine to activate him, so they can wait until just before week nine. He just might be ready to go by then.

I know it is so disapointing that the Jaguars 1st round 3rd overall pick isnt on the field, its like a stage of grief that many of us that we were over but probably truly havent gotten over...especially seeing

Leonard Williams getting safety, 1.5 sack in his limited play for the Jets with a bad defensive line.

We can only hope that fowler jr will be fantastic next year & we'll all forget about it.
Everything I read said Williams was pretty much invisible the first game. Yes, he had a good second game but the Jets do not have a bad defensive line.

First Gerhart blocking for AP, and now this?

Jets Dline:

Muhammed Wlikerson: 2013 2nd team All-Pro

Sheldon Richardson: 2013 DROY, 2014 Pro Bowl

Snacks Harrison: Widely regarded as one of the best Nose Tackles in the league.

The first game Williams spent most of the time watching his teammates watch him instead of playing so he was confused.  He got over it in the 2nd game.

Smile

Jets are going to stink this year I think Todd Bowles was a great Safety but appears to be a bad HC.

What, exactly, are you basing that statement on? He was a highly regarded position coach for a long time, and was very successful as a coordinator in Arizona. I'm not saying he's the next Tony Dungy, but I would like to know what makes you say that he appears to be a bad coach just two preseason games into his tenure with the Jets?
I dunno the whole Geno Smith drama and how it was handled among other things.  You are right it is way too early to tell, but I just have a hunch.  You know how people just felt Chip Kelly would be great two games into preseason on his first year with the Eagles... same thing just opposite kind of feeling with Bowles.

I am not a fan of the Jets so I mean I could care less either way really... the Jets arent in the AFC South so i care even less than that...

To be fair I haven't heard anything about Aldon Smith being a cancer in the locker room.

Having said that I still don't think we need to waste our time with him, primarily because I don't think he'll ever play again.
