Quote:And soldiers DON'T just do as they're told. It doesn't work that way in Western militaries anymore.
Yeah, now take those Germans and Japanese. They did what they were told.
Getting back to the fictional TV series...
Not every soldier is buying into it, but their loyalty is deep. Cpl. Adams was already having doubts, yet the barber still had to literally carve the truth out of him.
I get the feeling they are cramming a lot of back story on us in preparation for the full season next year.
I agree RJ
An unconstitutional law, is not a law. An unconstitutional order, is not an order.
Quote:I find the military "Cobalt" code word to be pretty implausible. A military that is having trouble staying alive on their own against the zombie hordes has a master plan to kill innocent civilians instead of trying to use their strengths to try to gain a foothold? These are American soldiers being asked to kill American civilians on native soil. Pretty far fetched. Even for a zombie apocalypse show.
I think this early into the apocalypse, this is a fairly feasible thing to believe. The government is fearful and jumps to conclusions they think is right. No one, including the government have an real grasp of this at this point really. They are doing things out of fear. and assumptions.
The military has pockets of uninfected civilians. The zombies have not even approached the fences. Yet in the city they start losing soldiers and the military plan is to kill the uninfected civilians and retreat and regroup? So that's the thought I should have in the back of my mind any time I see the military helping with civilian causes. "Hope this works, cuz if they fail, those civilians are gonna get humanely terminated." I think FTWD has a goal on where they want to lead their characters, both geographically and developmentally, but they are doing a really clumsy job of getting us there.

I wish there was a law preventing unnecessary commas.

Some just won't do as they're told.

The plan is to humanly kill the sick in the medical center. They already said everyone is infected so the problem is of you leave sick unturned you have a massive amount of walkers that will turn more people quickly.
At this point containment is the only objective.

As smart as most people are in these shows they would just nuke the site from orbit.
It's the only way to be sure.

We might see a nuke at some point, but I think they're working under the assumption it's contained to LA rigt now. The one guy said he's getting back to San Diego which suggest in his mind San Diego isn't a lost cause yet.

That's a line from Aliens.

True, but being a massive gaming nerd, WH40K was the first thing I thought of when I read his post.

Yup.
The word "fear" is key here. It's the theme of the show. How Fear is shaping the story, shaping the world during and beyond the outbreak.

How heretical.

The name of the show is Fear the Walking Dead so I agree. Everything we see is based on fear. Not actual knowledge or logic, just fear.
All I know is Alicia better not die, she is prime eye candy and rules of TV state, you can not get rid of eye candy until someone of equal or greater hotness is established.
I'm still watching the show but most of this is just dumb. There is NO WAY this could ever happen. I think it's best to just take off from where TWD started so you don't have to attempt to show how it could never get that bad.
My new favorite character is the dude in the suit in the holding area.
