That it is time to trade down for once! We need to accumulate more talent all over the field and find guys who will truly make an impact.
We have traded UP in the past 10 years or so, and it clearly has not worked in our favor. I'd love to stockpile on picks and bring in as much young talent as possible.
With the Jets at 6 and in need of a QB, I'd love to see us trade with Buffalo (pick 10), who is also in need of a QB. Something along those lines

The trades up in the past decade didn't work, most notably because we picked the wrong players.
Had we traded up from 16 to 10 in 2011 and taken J.J. Watt instead of Gabbert, we wouldn't have this discussion.
That said, given the way Caldwell has identified talent, I think the right trade down would benefit the team.
I'm sure the F.O. will be receptive to offers to trade down when/if the price is right.
Dave has stated repeatedly in the past few years that they were open to it but the right deal never surfaced. I don't see why this draft would be any different. Maybe they'll get a good offer this time.
The titans might also want to trade down.
I think Watson and Trubiski go off the board before 4. I would take Allen at 4.
If I am wrong, trading down would be fine as long as we have clear objectives about who we want to get where. I don't want to trade down just to get more picks. Who do we want and where? I would love to trade to get into the back 6-7 picks of the first round to snag a Feeney/Lamp/McCaffrey.
I can agree.
I believe there's much more to gain than lose.
RB crop is deep.
I think we could do more with lower picks than taking a safety so high and not having those extra pick(s)... assuming safety is what aligns as BAP when we select.
You can't just magically trade down because you want to.
Picking a bunch of players lower in the draft that will make an immediate impact is hard. We don't have Belichick on staff at the moment.

Are you Kotite with a new username?
There is no chance we can ever all agree on trading down from #4. This team is no longer in full rebuilding mode. Also, two current players we traded up for are home runs picks: Allen Robinson and Myles Jack (both in the second round). If Justin Blackmon was not a drug addict, the same could be said about our trade up for him.
The Bills only need a QB if they don't restructure Tyrod Taylor's contract. I think Taylor has said he wants to stay in Buffalo. They drafted Cardale Jones last year and are refusing to give up on E.J. Manuel. Why do you mention a team that probably will
not want to spend its first round pick on a QB?

Not with a division rival that picks before them.

Just for my own Lol. You know the irony of you asking if jaxjags is kotite is hilarious because, no one will ever confuse you for anyone else. Your pretty much solid all the way around in keeping your spot on the message board team.
EDIT:
On Topic though, i would rather see us take BAP if its S when we pick. If a trade down becomes available that is too good to pass up, OF COURSE we take it. If not ADAMS Or Hooker.

I guessed because he did not change his avatar or signature and definitely would not have asked him in the politics section. To me, he is just another poster who loves Sen'Derrick Marks and thinks we will shock the world (and most importantly does not try to drive me crazy).
On topic, any without a top 10 pick would have to give me the farm. Only a 2017 second rounder and 2018 first rounder is good enough for me.

You don't say.....................
I just wanted to have a conversation about a potential trade down opportunity and your thoughts and all I really get is insults and sarcastic responses. Whatever guys, never change.
Who would be trading up to 4? And who would they be after?
Garrett (the only must-have player in the draft) will be gone and so will the top QB. Even if the top QB is still on the board, teams will be able to get a better deal from the Titans (who they know won't pick a QB themselves). And there are so many good RBs, it seems unlikely anyone will be desperate enough to trade up to four for one.
I think we're stuck at four and if it gives us the chance to pick the player we want, I'm happy with that.

I was mainly thinking QB. I see mock drafts that have QBs going all over the place in the first round and normally they tend to sneak up higher if teams are really needy for one.

Last year there were several guys I would have been happy with, so trading wasn't even on my radar.
This year, there's no one that stands out as "must have" where we're selecting.
Great year to move and pick up extra players if that's what's in the cards.

If your suggestion was for a trade that does not drop us out of the top 10, I would be more open to the idea.

Wholly cow batman! Me and rico agree!

The only reason for that is desperate teams with high picks often reach for QBs. Smart teams will not trade up for one this year because there are no can't miss QB prospects. We would be more interested if you were thinking about positions with elite prospects.
